In a room packed with all sorts of politicians, past and present, watching the Bristol Downtown Development Corp. implode, one of its board members was ready to throw up his hands.
Tom Cosgrove said that maybe the nonprofit should simply let the City Council make the decision on which developer should get the nod.
The city attorney, Edward Krawiecki, Jr, shook his head.
Quietly, he said, "No f--ing way."
City Councilor Ken Cockayne said he didn't feel comfortable with the idea.
"Good boy," Krawiecki said in response.

The council is the wrong place for this. The 2 year terms put these folks in a never ending campaign mode. If you don't want a developer chosen let the council decide!
Sounds like good judgement on her part if you ask me. But I'm sure our community won't see it that way. We want everything right away and have sero tolerance or patience. Good things come to those who wait.

If the board doesn't make a decision on this on their own than what purpose do they serve. Would you guys please grow a set and make a decision for once in your lives. The city is counting on you, which is scary enough as it is.

At least Ken could look over to ED and get the answers. He cant think for himself.He isnt paper trained yet.
Seems they exist to exist and pay crazy money to a law firm who manages the dust bowl. It is time to pick now not start over. The BDDC should either pick a developer or disso;ve and put the property on the market. I think that if the Renaissance gets the job he could send some of the work to Damato and eveyone wins. The BDDC has no experience deciding what will and will not work on the site. If we are not pleased with the plan put forth by Renaissance then they can reject it then start over. Either decide next week or resign and let some real pros do the job you have not been doing.
This is just another one of Stortz's screw ups! Yet he thinks he was a great mayor!

9:26 poster: you just admitted that Cockayne is biased. He's biased against unions and biased in favor of damato. He would rather not have the council decide, because then he would have to let everyone know where he stands and we are tired of the "hometown crowd" developing our city. Look where it's gotten us thus far ... a heap of dirt in the center of town.

The "Zoppo-Sassu" led council is the reason this whole mess started in the first place (purchasing the parcel from Gato for millions more than it was worth.
