Horton Foote, the man who wrote the Oscar-winning screenplay for To Kill a Mockingbird, died at 92 in Hartford, according to The New York Times.
Playbill reports that his Broadway plays include Only the Heart, Six O'Clock Theatre, The Chase, Two's Company, The Trip to Bountiful, The Traveling Lady, The Young Man From Atlanta and Dividing the Estate. A nine-hour series of his plays, The Orphans' Home Cycle, is slated for a Hartford Stage debut next season.
He also wrote another Academy Award-winning screenplay for Tender Mercies, a terrific little movie.
