Colapietro says hands off to state Senate scandal

State Sen. Tom Colapietro said today that he received two interesting letters in the mail from former state Sen. Lou DeLuca (the one who just quit under fire):

This one signed by DeLuca

and this one, which DeLuca included with his own, from "distraught husband"

They both refer to the affair that has rocked the Senate this week after a columnist blew the whistle on it in a column in Sunday's Courant. The column revealed that the main legislative lobbyist for the Connecticut State University System was having an affair with a key legislative backer of a $1 billion bond package, namely state Sen. Thomas Gaffey, who is chairman of the Education Committee and vice chairman of the Higher Education Committee.
While some Republicans are calling for an investigation, Colapietro is dismissive.
Colapietro, a Bristol Democrat, said today that the "distraught husband" letter "sounds like sour grapes" and that the issue is a civil matter. He also called it "very poorly written."
But you can read the letters for yourselves (depending on your browser, you may find it easiest to download the letters and read them with normal picture viewing software, since they are in JPEG format). No reason a juicy scandal should be entirely removed from Bristol politics.
