Bristol in 2035

We're working on a project about what Bristol might be like in 2035 -- a quarter century down the road.
Now, of course, Bristol could be a smoldering ruin by then. Or it could be like something out of 'The Jetsons.' But what we're really looking for what's likely to happen and what should happen.
What's Bristol going to be like? Let's see if a consensus exists.
I've set up a new website HERE that will house this little project. I hope that some of you will contribute your ideas there.

With property values sinking and sure to come higher taxes. The good will leave to make room for secton eight.

Pretty sad that the kids on this project have more insight and imagination than grown adults in our town. Just like your mom used to tell you, "If you dont have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all."

10:13 - if that were to happen, this site would be empty.

The section 8 of slum lords is already happening! The house next to mine was bought cheap and they are renting it out and the land lords do not live in Bristol! The movement is under way! The movement of SEC 8! The only way for Bristol to not be a land of section 8 and to control it is for the City to start buying any 2 or 3 family that goes up for sale and knock it down and sell the land to a builder to build starter homes. As far as the west end goes all the 2 or 3 family homes should just be bought that are street front and the downtown revitalization should be expanded to that area of town as well. Not sure what other way there is to clean that area up.

Bristol will be a city of highways, with 229, 72 and 6 all becoming 8 lane roads leading to elswhere.
Klocko will be city manger, still. Mocabee will lose, again, for mayor, to Kate Matthews.
And the Bristol press will be down to 6 pages per edition.

So true times in bristol are bad no way around it. sell the mall property and buy all the slums before its to late . Bristol needs a leader. Doesnt matter what party some one with a buisness back round. Not a ex cop or bar owner.

Bristol (due to heavy lobbying from the American Legion) will be the state veteran's cemetery exclusively.
Due to high taxes by the Democrat dominated Legislature, almost all citizens and businesses (including ESPN) will have left...but Bristol will be one heck of a pretty memorial (and pedestrian friendly too).

December 10, 2009 8:19 AM - great idea! You need to run for Mayor! I saw that the Federal government does have grants out there for that same idea you mentioned. Wonder if the city is even looking at those kind of grants?

Bristol will look just like New Britain (we are not far away now)in the future unless something is done to stop the section 8 flood.

Be careful of what you pray for!

Remember government fostered Redevelopment.

Anything the government funds comes with strings.

Section 8 is a GOVERNMENT program.

Make Bristol more attractive and the prices will drive Section 8 out.
