Snow stories

First off, there is a on-street parking ban in effect in Bristol, for obvious reasons. So don't leave your cars on the roads to cause headaches for plow operators and the police. They have enough to do.
Beyond that, though, I thought I'd just open this up for any tales anyone has about the storm, the plowing and such.
Since the promise of snow has already KO'd my church's services tomorrow, I'm looking forward to sleeping in.

The Forestville Building Committee meets on Monday night. That is according to the meeting notice sent out by interim superintendent of schools Kim Halpern the former special education director. Is there a story there?

Bristol needs to make cuts but maybe the politicans havent seen public works spending several hours plowing empty lots on overtime. The tax payers sure must be thinking about the next election.

How much extra does it cost the town in snow removal since they now have to plow the snow into the center of the street and comeback at a later date and spend hours to remove it.? This was done under the guise of a federal grant to landscape the road which in turn we were told would be attracting businesses. Even if it did attract businesses, I've seen the street between the firehouse and Brackett park closed by the police going both directions. That is a business friendly grant? There were 4 cruisers,(2 on each end), 2 dump trucks, 1 payloader and 3 dumptrucks. So I am guessing 4 police officers, and maybe 6-8 public works employees. Figure $30 per hour plus the cost of machinery operation by the few hours it took them multiplied by how many storms we have. I am absolutely for essential and effective town services, but this is just idiodic.
Are the cops on OT or can they be called if something happens.? If they are not on OT how are they going to keep the road closed until the street is clear? Are the DPW guys on OT? What was it 6 million dollars or so to scape that road and for a few bricks and lights, it has attracted no taxpaying businesses and probably has cost us that twice over just in snow removal.

Snow is good excuse for overtime for cops and public works. Some of these cops work so much overtime they cant function for normal duty. Look at Barton hes sleeping standing up while on duty. You could hang decorations on him he would never realize it till Easter.

I noticed after the plowing suddenly came to an end on my rural street, (trucks plowing over and over) there was a blue tint in the snow. Is this a new liquid de-icer? No more sand and salt? With the previous snow storm, (that awful wet snow) it was trash pick-up that morning. The plows managed to create an S-curve in front of home. They actually plowed into the woods across the street. It left about a 12 ft wide plow mound in front of my driveway. My refuse can wasn't near the street edge. Gotta love that job. Too bad it doesn't snow here 365 days a year. Where's my bob-cat?

How about the snow job Ward is giving us?

Snow plows were outthis AM, before 7:00. Nothing on the roads.

How much OVERTIME did they get?
