For most groups, all they need to do is file a 990 electronic postcard. It's simple, simple, simple -- so simple that I've done it for Youth Journalism International.
If you know someone connected to any of these groups, tell them about it!

Update at 8:40 a.m. --
Just called the folks who run Bristol Youth Lacrosse to get their reaction. Not surprisingly, the woman I spoke with had no idea a form was due. Hopefully, that'll get done right away.
I don't know about the others, though. If you do, tell them! I'd hate to see active nonprofits have to go back to square one with the IRS. They have more important work to do.

Is the city a non-profit?
After all, we are running deficits on a regular basis.
Steve, Pequabuck River Watershed Association (PRWA) had already filed for our year ending 9/30/09. I double checked today with IRS and confirmed that we are not due to file until after 9/30/2010 and will be late after Feb. 10, 2011.
Thanks for helping out those who are in danger. Mary R.
Steve:
Thank you for publishing this. With the chaos of just the regular season sometimes things slip through. As a coach, it would be a shame to loose something that the Lacrosse Association has worked so hard to build. Richard P. Scarola
