Malloy defeats Lamont

Former Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy defeated businessman Ned Lamont for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination by a 2-to-1 margin. It's not yet official, but soon will be.

Update at 11:19 - Malloy got 1,232 votes. Lamont collected 580.

As a Republican I can honestly say I kind of like Malloy. He sounds like he has some common sense and may not be a public employee union pawn as most if not all of the Democrats in the Legislature are. If Rell was running against him I'd be tempted to vote for him. Jargura would be a good candidate as well.

Jarjura that is. He's not afraid to stand up for fiscal restraint like Malloy. But the state will be a lot ahrder to fix than Stamford, maybe not so much harder than Waterbury though.

Malloy is for charter schools. Charter schools in many instances are non-union! One would assume Ned Lamont will assume the role of the more union-friendly, left-winger.
