Cockayne to run for another term on City Council

Freshman Republican city Councilor Ken Cockayne said Tuesday he plans to seek re-election as one of the 2nd District's two city councilors.
The other incumbent in the district, Democrat Kevin McCauley, hasn't said anything about his plans. But many insiders suspect he won't run this year.
An unsuccessful contender for the seat in the past, Democrat Bruce Lydem, said he's 90 percent sure he will try once more.
Two of the six councilors have said they're going to step down this year, Democrats Frank Nicastro and Craig Minor. Nicastro, though, will continue to serve as a state representative in the 79th District.
Two other incumbents, Democrat Cliff Block and Republican Mike Rimcoski, have said they are likely to seek another term. Mayor Art Ward, too, is leaning toward running for reelection.

What has Cliff done for the 77th? I can't think of one thing? Does he even know what is going on in the city? I feel like he is the Dem's little puppet...

"Now Nicastro will run for Mayor and fix the mess Ward made!"

I sure hope not. We're all still paying for the mess that Nicastro made.

As a Democrat, I am extremely glad he is running again. He is a one hit wonder. He will get crushed this time in an embarrasing landslide. The COO issue will come back to bite him. Remember, the unions control the politics in this town. There is little that can be done. The unions will come out against Cockaine just like they shot down the COO. Wake up and smell the cofee.

Stortz or Nicastro. I would take either at this point.

BTW - I'm riding that train....

Anybody but Ward: and Stortz is my FIRST choice.

I'm for Stortz too.

Its JANUARY. Must we be subjected to 10 months of local political crap????? Talk to me this summer. I might be paying attention then, even more so after I get my tax bill.

"BTW - I'm riding that train...."

---seems your train jumped the track....

Jan 20 6:49 p.m. You are 100% correct. The union lackeys will do what they are told. Too bad people can not think for themselves.

"The unions will come out against Cockaine just like they shot down the COO. Wake up and smell the cofee."

The unions probably will come out against Cockayne...along with the rest of the intelligent tax paying citizens of Bristol. We already woke up, smelled the coffee, drank it and moved on....

We need fresh blood on the council - enough of these good old boys running over and over again and getting nothing done.

"enough of these good old boys"

Enough of the stupid "good old boys" rhetoric. Can't you people come up with something new? BTW, did ya ever think maybe they're "getting nothing done" b/c now is definitely NOT the time to be doing things?

Where is Storts whwn we need him?

The only thing that i want to hear out of anybody that is running this year is how to reduce the budget for the school system - which in turns will lower my taxes. Those are the people that will get my vote..Period!
