Hamzy takes aim at gun control efforts

State Rep. Bill Hamzy, whose 78th District includes Plymouth and a portion of Bristol, is sponsoring a bill in the General Assembly to "prohibit the adoption of a municipal ordinance concerning the right to carry a firearm."
The idea is to prevent cities and towns from regulating firearms with local laws.

Ont of the most sacred rights we as Americans have is the right to possess and bear firearms. While circumstances up to the present have eroded that right, one of the true marks of a free society is the ability of it's citizens to defend themsleves with deadly force. Thank you Bill Hamzy for your efforts in defending that right. Connecticut is indebted to you.

What's the factual basis for your claim that there is a direct relationship between freedom and the right to bear arms? Do you have any data to support this? Canadians are just as free as we are, but they can't own handguns.

I know you've heard this before, but it's absolutely true: if guns are outlawed, then only outlaws will have guns.

Thank you Bill!

I'm sorry sone can't contemplete that freedom includes the right for one to bear arms. But since it is written into the US Constitution as the 2nd Amendment and that particular freedom was recently upheld in the US Supreme Court, the inability for some people not to understand freedom and how it relates to ones right to bear firearms doesn't concern me.

The Supreme Court made a truly bizarre ruling on the Second Amendment last year, but hey, when the Chief Justice can't remember a 35-word sentence, what do you expect.
