Perhaps to show up Mayor William Stortz, three Democratic city councilors showed up for the special council meeting this evening that the mayor cancelled because, he said, he couldn't get a quorum.
"I don't know why Bill said that," said city Councilor Frank Nicastro. "We were there."
Nicastro said that he, Art Ward and Kevin McCauley all went to the meeting even though they knew it had been KO'd.
He said Stortz was playing games with the special session all along.
For instance, Nicastro said, Craig Minor said he could only attend the beginning of the meeting and asked the mayor to please put a needed executive session about the Davenport case first on the agenda so he could participate.
Instead, "Stortz put it last," Nicastro said.
This morning, Stortz threw in the towel and cancelled the meeting completely, pinning the blame for the cancellation on councilors who said they couldn't come.
But if Stortz had shown up, there were enough councilors to make it a legal meeting.
It just didn't work out that way.

What kinda game are you Democrats playing.
If the meeting was canceled and you knew about Stay home.
Why would you show up?
Nicastro what has happened to you?
This is just another example that shows the people we have in office don't get it. This is not high school. Time for a CLEAN SWEEP!
Clean sweep is right. Time to go to Home Depot and buy the brooms.
Imagine if Johnson wins what a trifecta:
Stortz, Zoppo and Ward...Gone
add in McCauley and Minor.. Oh what heaven is.
The first poster hit the nail on the head!!!
The democrats, some of them are playing the same game that they played earlier this year. This is what makes the process stink!
And Nicastro, I surprised and dissapointed in you. You seem to forget (conveniently) when you were mayor.
They could make a political function (campaign planning) and not make meeting that they get paid for.
For shame!!!
