Reminder: New administration takes office this evening

Those elected last week, including a new mayor, will take office this evening.
The swearing-in ceremony takes place at 7 p.m. at Bristol Eastern High School.
Typically, there's some music, a little ceremony and a forgettable speech from the incoming mayor (though I'm sure Art Ward's address would be riveting).
The public is welcome to attend. It should be over by 8:30 or so, though I've heard no specifics about the event yet so don't blame me if Ward decides that a 3-hour speech is required to mark the moment.

I've known Art a long time. He,fortunately,is one of the truly rare politicians who fully understands the value of brevity.Far too many do not.I really get "worn out" by politicians who will use TEN words where ONE will relate the identical point!

I would also like to congratulate Art and all those who worked so very hard to help him win this election.I know for a fact they all put in a lot of time and effort.

Will Ward be giving his own speech or will it be scripted for him?

Ward writes his own speeches - Unlike the two puppets of Zoppo's who need a script, Minor & McCauley).

Its these type of wiseass and classless comments from Ward supporters that will doom his administration unless he starts surrounding himself with people who have a larger view of the world. That and the fact that he needs his City Council mates to get things done or else he is just another Stortz. Enough already - its Inaugeration Night and time to let bygones be bygones.

I highly doubt Ward writes his own stuff. I think it's been a long time since Bristol had a Mayor who actually wrote his own speeches and remarks. Democrat and Republican.

You have only to listen to the mayors to know that they come up with their own speeches.

Has Bristol ever had a mayor with a college diploma?

12:12 Poster: And these pathetic little snipppets are the product of your own infantile imagination? I really doubt that. You're like some Japanese Army guy still hiding in a cave on an island somewhere. The war's over, dude. Go home.

At least:

Stretch Norton
Mike Werner
Ralph Papazian
Bill Stortz

His Secretary-emertius, Donna Achille wrote the speech for him.

It was typical Donna, no substance

Do the Marino's have real jobs? Did they ever?

Wow, some people just can't let go of the scripting. McCauley and Minor are articulate enough and do not need to "script". I love how whoever posted chose to ignore Nicastro and Rimcoski in this so called "scripting" because they were part of it, too. It's called an outline and everyone on the council has one including Ward. Why do you think they keep looking down when they speak? So they can be reminded of what they have to report on with all those boards and committees they have to attend. How else can they keep the information straight? Drop the scripting already. It's getting really old!
