Hit and run tragedy in Bristol

We're looking for more information so if anyone knows anything, please drop me a line at scollins@bristolpress.com or phone me at 584-0501 x. 254.
But what we think we know is that a 14-year-old boy was hit on George Street about 6:30 p.m. yesterday while he and a friend were walking their bikes up the steep hill. The Associated Press reports that the boy, who hasn't been identified, died last night. Police Lt. Jack Michaud said this morning he can't confirm that and neither can I. I hope they're wrong.

What a sad and tragic event. This is horrid.

This type of incident is not surprising in our community. There are many other (much more busy streets than George Street) that have a speeding/reckless driving problem. Unfortunately the people in charge of traffic speed enforcement seem only interested in protecting pedestrian traffic on the Boulevard (for some reason).

I think 8:41 speaks for us all. Concerned's comment was typical of his heartless and condescending crap. Only CC could twist this tragic story into a way to bash the city...sick!

Well I believe I speak for all the residents of Bristol who are sick and tired of cars racing around our residential streets (drunk driving or sober) and nothing being done about it. And guess what? We're pissed off! And hiow dare you defend the status quo by attacking me!

And As I stated, this is a tragic, sad and horrid event. MY heart goes out to the parents of this poor kid.

concerned conservative, you create your own reasons for people to want to attack you, the least of which is your obnoxious, arrogant, condescending, irresponsible tendency to prove yourself amazingly stupid, with not an iota of regard for others.
Curl up in the fetal position and hope for a rebirth because you have really screwed up the one that you are presently living.

Well, don't flatter yourself cuz... you don't! With some of your incredibly egostical, abrasive and usually plain ole stupid comments, I'm usually embarrassed for you. Please, please don't attempt to speak for the rest of us.

Wow, I guess you must all hate C.C. you can not even look at what was posted and see it is the truth. I too am tired of the speeders on my street. How very sad for this family that lost their son. May they find comfort in GOD and one another.

That is a heartbreaking photo. It really captures the essence of this tragedy.

The problem with Concerned Conservative is that even when he has a good point (and once in a while he does) to make it is blurred by the way he delivers it.

So this is a "sad and tragic event". "Speeding and reckless driving" is a problem that needs to be addressed.

We all know that but now is the time to focus on the family.

Imagine what they are going through and think (or pray) for them.

"We all know that but now is the time to focus on the family".

I don't see this piece by Collins as a memorial service. The small amount of criticizers of me who would like pay your respects to the family are encouraged by me to do so in the appropriate manner by either attending the funeral service or making some kind of donation in memory to this kid (although I doubt you'll do anything but spout off on this blog).

If you criticizers feel that by attacking me you're doing something for these people (or just plain wonderful) you're quite pathetic.

This is news story about a tragic incident, but it also illustrates a problem in the city of Bristol. Comments here are in no way in memoriam only. Many comments have been (rightfully so) in regards to the Mayor's comments/behavior (which I find disgusting if not only worrisome), the actions (or inactions) of the police, ambulance etc. Again, THIS BLOG IS NOT A MEMORIAL SERVICE SITE.

I can not believe people (albeit only a couple) would actually waste their time attacking me (especially when, as usual, I am right). I find it especially sickening that after some scoundrel ran over a kid and ran away like a coward, you worthless pieces of garbage would find such fault in some (apparently trivial)comments. Just please go on with your insufferable, pathetic lives.

Concerned, I don't know how to break it to you, but this blog CAN be a memorial site if the community choses to make it one.

Now I'm sure you're that you're really not going to believe this, but in the wake of this terrible tragedy, NO ONE wants to hear your skewed, warped and self-righteous ramblings. How about you have a nice big cup of shut-up and make the rest of our "insufferable, pathetic lives" a little brighter.

CC's views are held by more people than you think.

I agree that occasionally CC does have a relevant point, but it's usually buried so deep in his self-righteous, obnoxious ramblings that it's moot...and the rest of the time (mostly) it's just self-righteous, obnoxious rambling.
