Republican city Councilor Ken Cockayne joined the Justice for Henry Waye group on Facebook even before my story came out. He said he's eager to see the driver who struck and killed the 14-yar-old Hull Stree boy arrested and brought to justice.
As best I can tell from scanning through the 565+ people who have joined the group now, Cockayne is the only top city official who's signed up. I checked on the other city councilors who are on Facebook -- Craig Minor, Cliff Block and Kevin McCauley -- and determined they have not signed on to the group.

Yep Cockayne jumping on the band wagon , must be an election coming up.
Is this Steve making the news or reporting the news. He post a link then 30 hours later he post who has not joined it that are running for election. Looks like a pitch for Cocayne. What if they have jobs and do not spend all of their time reading blogs and do not know about it yet? This is bush league and is this what the new owner means by change? This should be removed.
I think letting me know Cockayne joined this lynch mob is interesting and makes me like him less. I don't know why 3:49 believes Collins is making a pitch for Cockayne by telling us about it. It seems to me that it's just the reverse. Fascinating how that goes!
Now I like Cockayne better for doing this so I'm right and those who disagree are wrong. The police should tell us more about the driver.
Typical Cockayne childishness. How very disappointing.
It doesn't look like Cockayne was looking for press on this one. I know that is tough to believe. Collins dug this up on his own.
Ken is on the board for youth services. He is very in tune with what is goiing on with the youth in this town. Just b/c he signed on as a friend or whatever it is called on facebook doesn't really mean too much, other then he sympathizes with the feelings of the youth in this community. It's nice to see a Republican payig attention to issues like this affecting our youth. Kudos to Ken.
This is not newsworthy.
Furthermore, this story about the poor kid's tragic death is being way overdone. He was killed, he was buried, his family is mourning. Let it go for now until the driver is arrested. We have major problems that need our attention.
Hey 8:58 -- I'm glad you're not a newspaper editor.
Go Cockayne Go Cockayne Go Cockayne GO!
Channel 8 must agree with Steve ----- http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/news_wtnh_Bristol_Facebook_Henry_Waye_200903181510
I can understand the kids' knee jerk reaction to this tragedy, but Ken's supposed to react as an adult...oops, forgot who I was talking about...Go for it Mad Dog!
"Go Cockayne Go Cockayne Go Cockayne GO!"...don't look back and just keep on going!!! ;0)
KEN GOOD LUCK YOUR UP AGAINST A CORRUPT POLICE DEPT. THE CHIEF SHOULD RESIGN. BGUT LOOK AT HIM HES CLUELES.
ken help the kids the police wont . the mayor has no guts to step in.
"BGUT LOOK AT HIM HES CLUELES."
Apparently, he's not the only one.
;0)
Will Diamantis be this guy's lawyer (referring to the guy who killed Waye)?
The Blame for inaction regarding this crime should be on the liberals in Hartford and Washington DC (and their supporters). Don't blame the local police.
KEN RUMOR HAS IT POSSIBLE COVER UP . TELL THE CHIEF IN ORDER TO GET DRUNK AT HOME YOU HAVE TO HAVE BOOZ IN THE HOUSE. IN LESS THERE IS ANOTHER WAY . OR WAS HE IN THE COMPANY OF A .
Didn't Cockayne have his own problems with the PD a few years ago?
"YOU HAVE TO HAVE BOOZ IN THE HOUSE. IN LESS THERE IS ANOTHER WAY ."
...and it sounds like 8:31 probably knows a LOT about "BOOZ."
"OR WAS HE IN THE COMPANY OF A ."
Actually, I heard he was in the company Elvis behind the grassy knoll.
Seriously 8:31 - You ARE the biggest loser!
LOL!!!!
