Another blow to the Courant

A television guy just took over as publisher of The Hartford Courant. His first move? To combine the Courant's dwindling newsroom with those of two TV stations owned by Tribune Co.
This can't be good for journalism or the Courant.

Why would't this be any better then letting the Courant go belly-up. Carver could't change the liberal slant, maybe the new guy can do better.

Connecticut has a liberal slant so even if it the paper followed suit, why would that hurt it? I've never understood that line of thinking.
