Special meetings on Wednesday

Wednesday night is looking like a particularly busy one in city government.
There's a Forestville School Building Committee slated for 6 p.m. in Room 36 at the Board of Education Administration Building, 129 Church Street.
Its agenda is:
1. Call to Order
2. Discussion of Site Selection
3. Public Participation
4. Any Other Business
5. Adjournment

Meanwhile, over at City Hall, there will be a special City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers. Its agenda is:
1. Approval of contract for Southeast Bristol Business Park and take any action as necessary.
2. Report on status of discontinuance of a portion of Birch Street bisecting ESPN campus, conveyance of City-owned property adjoining Birch Street to ESPN and to take any action as necessary.
3. Discuss possible property acquisition at 71-79 Meadow Street.
a) Convene into Executive Session if necessary.
b) Reconvene into public session and take any action as necessary.
4. Discuss possible property acquisition at 40 West Street.
a) Convene into Executive Session if necessary.
b) Reconvene into public session and take any action as necessary.

In case anyone is wondering, the regular council meeting is next Wednesday, the 12th, rather than on Tuesday, as normal, because of the primary. The Board of Education is also meeting on the 12th.

Why is it necessary to have an emergency city council meeting when the pre-scheduled meeting is next week? What will be lost if this meeting is not held tomorrow night?

Why is public participation last with the BOE meetings? As a parent, I don't have all night to sit through a BOE meeting to get and only be given 3 mins. to talk!
Unless the BOE is willilng to pay for my babeysitter?
