Perhaps the oddest thing

After Ellen Zoppo's speech, which was gracious, I dashed over to Art Ward's victory party.
It was like going from a wake to a wedding.
Perhaps the oddest thing was seeing Republican mayoral hopeful Ken Johnson in his orange "Bristol First" garb along with a number of his supporters.
They were looking awfully happy -- and they stuck around for a long while to shake hands and offer congratulations.
"Now the fun begins," Johnson told me.
By 9:15, all of the Democratic City Council candidates were there with Ward.
Zoppo never showed up, though she said she called.
Ward showed me the received calls on his cell phone, however, and there wasn't one from Zoppo. Perhaps she called his house. It's easier that way.
The Democratic chairman, Dean Kilbourne, didn't make an appearance either. That was noted by many as well. Some said he won't have the job for long.

Goes to show you what a class act Ken Johnson is.

Zoppo won the TC endorsement mostly because of how active she and her father have been. Everyone knew there'd be a primary anyway.

Odd is somewhat right. Although it's nice to see adults behaving like adults, one has to wonder why Johnson wouldn't feel a bit
awk-Ward being there. Tonight was a Democrat night. I hope he gave his condolences to Ms. Zoppo as well in person.

Ken Johnson went to Art's Party b/c he wanted to offer him congratulations and move on from the primary to the real election.

Going to Mrs. Zoppo-Sassu's would have been a slap in the face.

I'm sure he'll talk with Ellen over the next few days.

ELLEN NOT SHOWING UP TO WARDS PARTY IS ONE MORE WAY HER TRUE COLORS SHOWED.

It wasn't class, it was a photo opportunity. Kewn couldn't stand to see Art getting attention that he wasn't involved in.

Ken Johnson reminds me of the little kid that jumps in the background behind a live newscaster. "Look at me! Look at me!"

Real class would have been calling Art or making a comment to Steve Collins via phone congratulating Art. Not having your entire crew show up in their campaign outfits at a Democratic Primary party.

This was a big loss for Ellen but I don't think that she really understands why she lost. She will blame other people, the media, Ward supporters, etc - but she won't take a good look at her own actions and realize that they played a bigger role in why she lost than anything else did.

I am a Ward supporter and I was at Nuchies last night and no matter how you try to spin it, Ken Johnson's appearance was very classy and sincere.

How many people are surprised that Ms. Zoppo offered congratulations neither directly by phone nor in person?

Also, loved Mr. Minor's backhanded congratulation to Art Ward.

To the person who states that a visit to "Zoppo-Sassu's" would have been a slap in the face to her, it isn't "Zoppo-Sassu's" HQ (where she was), it was the Democrat HQ where she was.

Minor needs to go, McCauley needs to go, and Zoppo is gone. She called Art at home at 8:30pm knowing he was at Nuchie's. Ellen is immature and cannot stand seeing Ward win. Just goes to show we all chose the right person - WARD. He will run a clean campaign now that Zoppo is gone. Nothing against Johnson, but his years in govt. are nill compared to Wards. I wish Johnson would have run for city council I would have voted for him, but for Mayor he is to green.
