Union letter opposing COO

In a letter addressed to "union brothers and sisters," AFSCME Local 2267 said it has put together a committee to fight against the proposal for a chief operating officer at City Hall.
"A chief operating officer will not prove a friend to the unions," the mailing said. It also said the position would be "a costly mistake" for the city as a whole.
Here's the anti-chief operating officer letter: LINK to PDF.
And to those who assisted in its release, thanks you for the help.
I'll have more on this later this afternoon.

Ahhh...
once again the truth comes out about the unions! They have the mayor and council in there pocket so of course they dont' want this. isn't that right Ward, Nicastro and McCauley?

Hey ..... The Unions have every right to aggressively go after ANYONE / ANYTHING that may cause them to actually work for a living .

Give 'em a break .

Socialize America ..... vote no'bama !!!!!

Did anyone else notice that Ward has one of the vote no signs in his front lawn? We already know he doesn't support it, but it just doesn't sit well with me that he has a sign in his front lawn. I know it is his right, but it just seems improper especially with all of the talk that he favors making decisions that benefit the unions.

The unions are the big, bad Boogie Monster that are responsible for every thing that is wrong in America.

Exactly what union do the criminal CEOs who destroyed our country belong to? They must have some pretty good negotiators to have written in those clauses that give them those nice $100 million dollar golden parachutes after stealing people's money and ruining our country.

I'd like to get their negotiator for our union. Ours hasn't even been able to negotiate a raise to cover the annual rate of inflation.

so ward can state/vote publicly that he doesn't favor the COO but he loses his right to put it on his lawn?
not saying that it is/isn't but could it be that it is his wife's opinion - does she lose her right to show her preference or does she forsake that right by association?
come up with some rational concerns rather than this cow-chip crap.

4:39 - take a deep breath and hold it until the results are in on election day - what a whimp.
Do you really think the sign on ward's lawn is going to sway the election?
If you do, it shows how little faith that you have in the strength of the COO proposal, which is the reason that I am voting "no."
By the way, you will know who I am when you see the (2) two "VOTE NO" signs on my lawn and the man-made sign of "DUMP 4:39PM."

sshh, don't tell anyone but I saw ward even putting up "vote no" signs over the weekend - how is that for an earth-shattering news break - wasn't gonna tell you earlier because i figured that the news might make for one of those ugly, ugly "monday, mondays" - know what i mean?
hope that i didn't traumatize your dream cycle.

Anonymous said...

Vote for Obamanation and you get socialization, comrades!

Anonymous said...

Gee it's nice to see the Unions are taking issue with what you know-it-alls think. You still think you are right and the whole world is wrong. So thought Hitler !

Vote for McCain And you get slavery so the rich get richer and you faceless small timers might get rich too. lmao You might even remember how many houses you don't own !!

Unions are killing the taxpayers!!
You can't volunteer to clean up the city because God forbid we take a union members job away. Lets do away with the unions!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen, 12:51. Long term goal: Constitutional Amendment prohibiting unions. That would send the economy soaring!

Anonymous said...

HOw does one explain that over 3,000 voters signed the petition, but NOT ONE has answers to the many questions that are being asked?

Do people know what they are signing?

Will people know what they are voting for?

Anonymous said...

7:42 - most likely not

There are no unanswered questions that matter. It's all in the charter amendment, if you would bother reading it. Just union hacks who don't want the COO and are throwing up a bunch of smoke.

Anonymous said...

They may not matter to you , until problems arise and we are stucjk with the bill!

THe Charter amendment as proposed DOES NOT change the existing Charter, which then clearly creates some potential conflicts.

Read then side by side.

"Amen, 12:51. Long term goal: Constitutional Amendment prohibiting unions. That would send the economy soaring!"

You need to get out a little more. There are far more non-unionized companies/organizations ruining the economy right now.

A constitutional amendment to eliminate citizen's right to organize? Um, that would be very unconstitutional and go against our basic principles of democracy. I suggest that you review US history related to such actions in the late 1800s and early 1900s to find out why.

IF THE UNION DOES NOT LIKE IT, IT MUST BE A GOOD THING FOR THE TAXPAYER.

VOTE YES, YES YES YES

Anonymous said...

If the union doesn't like it must be good???

Ah....rocket science at its best! Let's vote for this muddled, extremely costly and unnecessary concept just because the "union doesn't like it"....what a jerk.

Show us the cost savings the COO would generate. They can't because there are none. This is a political meatball being thrown by Johnson, who is vindictive over his loss to Ward, and by a former business owner who is angry because he couldn't keep his company in Bristol.

Read the proposal folks, the devil's in the details!!! Why do you think the Commission wouldn't approve the original proposal by these "know it alls", the Town Manager, aka City Manager?

can't help but notice the lack of visibility of ken johnson, craig minor, ken cockayne and craig yarde since the reality of the people asking for accountability has arisen. Could it be that they thought that the public was sleeping and that they could boon doggle this COO mess through the people?
wake up fella's, revalie has been called and the public is awake, alive and well, paying atention to the issue, the lack of your rasonable, responsible answers to the calls for accountability and ratonale for the COO.
Taps will be played for this issue on Election Day, November 4, 2008 and may the idea be buried forever.

election day '09 can't come soon enough.

Anonymous said...

might even see ken johnson, minor and cockayne standing at the polls on election day, especially if it is a "Fair Weather" day.

10:16 - they are probably hoping that it will rain so that they will be able to hide under their umbrellas.

Does anyone know what this guy is trying to say?

I think that he/she is against the COO - AS EVERYONE SHOULD BE.
