Warring monks in holiest Christian site

This has nothing to do with Bristol, at least directly, but isn't it beyond pathetic that the various Christian sects that control the Church of the Holy Sepulchre that marks the supposed site of Jesus' Crucifixion can't get along enough to prevent the place from collapsing?

Steve,

This battle has been going on for years. Sometimes they go after each other with sticks, etc. A major source of tension is that the authority within the shrine reflects how the Christian world was at about the time of the Crusades. Protestants are essentially locked out from any role. So much so that there is another site, the Garden Tomb, conveniently identified by Charles Gordon (aka Chinese Gordon, the same gentleman who was later beheaded at Khartoum by the Mahdi) which has been suggested as the actual burial place.

It is really a neat place to visit. Too bad not much will be left if the Iranians nuke Jerusalem.
