Zoppo eyed library director last winter, too

At the end of January, city Councilor Ellen Zoppo sent the mayor an email saying "there were issues" raised about Library Director Francine Petosa at a Friends of the Bristol Public Library meeting the night before.
"Have you picked up any intelligence on this from your sources?" Zoppo asked Mayor William Stortz.
Stortz wrote back two days later saying that he did not know the source of Zoppo's information but he spoke with three members of the group "and they did not feel there were any issues."
Zoppo quickly responded to the mayor in another email to tell him that his questions "had somewhat of a chilling effect, so I will take it from here."
It's unclear what, if anything, happened after that.

LOL "intelligence from your sources"!!? Your kidding me. She sounds so clandestine! Yeah Stortz gets his beta from his shoe phone. I wonder who Ellen's "sources" are?

I think Bill secretly planted listening devices in the statues he dontated to the library.

If this woman weren't a serious contender for the mayor's office, it would be kind of funny, but it's really not. It's sad, and a little frightening.

This is so cloak and daggerish ... and so icky.

What a pair! Her sources? His intelligence? They do say politics makes strange bedfellows, and let's hope it doesn't get any stranger than this.
At least they'll always have... not Paris, but the downtown mall. It's the next best thing.

Does Ellen not know she is NOT part of fixing what she presumes as "issues" Who the hell is Zoppo to tell the Mayor "I will take it from here?" Ellen is threatened by any woman who will challenge her or stand up to her, and Ellen' sway of getting back is attacking the persons character.
Ellen is not Mayor material, she is a DICTATOR, just like Bill. This is very scary and distrubing that Ellen is acting like this.
Anyone who votes for this woman is crazy.

Petty and pathetic. Need I say more.

Dirty politics every year. Trash comes out of the woodwork. All the political figures are out of wack. Who hasn't felt threatened at work. I get pissed off, swear a bit and get back to business. Who cares and why bring the stuff up now. I'm still supportive of Zoppo.

I suppose Ellen thinks she can part the sea? Francine has been running the library for years without problems until Zoppo came into the picture.

Love the way she's playing games with Stortz. Some Democrat!

Wow following this blog has made one thing very clear... Let's forget about Democrats or Republicans. There are enough new candidates running for council and even mayor to just start over. It is time for a clean sweep and just get rid of everyone. Electing a batch of new candidates( who cares if they just happen to be democrat or republican) may just be the answer. At least we could put an end to all this crap, clean house and the new group might actually make things better then they are now. The current leadership is just beyond repair!

This is a classic dirty campaign that Art Ward's supporters are waging. The frivolous FOI complaint, and sending old, resolved personnel memos to the Bristol Press with no chance for her to respond before the election, is dirty. Who is his campaign advisor, Karl Rove? If these are the ethical standards of Art Ward the candidate, what can we expect from Art Ward the Mayor?

Those emails to and from Stortz are not old, but they are vastly enlightening. They make me inclined to vote for Ward even though I began as a Zoppo supporter. I just don't like the way Ellen has cozied up to the mayor in general -- and this secretive sneaking she did with him is too much for me.

This little episode leaves me feeling queasy as well. I love Ellen but I'm not sure I will vote for her.

Clean sweep!

"I just don't like the way Ellen has cozied up to the mayor in general -- and this secretive sneaking she did with him is too much for me."

She met with him regularly, as did every one of the Democrats on the council except for Ward, because he was too childish to accept the fact that we had a Republican mayor. This is the behavior of a "leader" who can "work well with everyone"?

Why are those who support Ellen keep stating this is Ward's campaign waging this? These are emails Ellen wrote herself that Steve Collins got through FOI. No one wrote these emails but Ellen herself. Her true colors and nasty attitude are all over these emails, which I am sure she thought would never come out. I am 100% sure there are even nastier ones Steve has not included, yet.
Ellen has said some other nasty uncallled remarks to others on board and committees and I hope that comes out too.

Ellen - what happened to your campaign motto "Is it good? Is it necessary? Is it right?"

She is down right mean and has no people skills. What is she talking about intelligence, maybe she should become a CIA or FBI agent.

She is when too dramatic for me. What else is out there that no one knows about.

First comment on this blog, is good.

Wrong, most of these emails and complaints are not the result of Steve using FOI, he has admitted they came from anonymous sources. Gee, I wonder who they might be.

The two letters came from anonymous sources - the emails he is printing are written by Ellen and only Ellen. What are you going to say next, she was off he meds. the day she wrote them?
