Colapietro organizes expo for seniors, veterans

An informational exposition for seniors and veterans is likely to draw hundreds of area residents to Bristol Eastern High School this month.
“I’m pretty excited to see it happen,” said state Sen. Tom Colapietro, the Bristol Democrat who organized it.
“I expect to see a good turnout,” said Colapietro, whose 31st District includes Bristol, Plymouth, Plainville and a piece of Harwinton. “People enjoy it and it’s free.”
The August 26 expo, which will feature at least 40 informational booths from private and government agencies and companies, is in its second year.
Colapietro said it’s back “basically by popular request.” He said he intends to make it an annual event because it has shown its value to seniors and veterans in the region.
Some of the senior living facilities in the area are expected to bring busloads of residents, Colapietro said, in order to take advantage of the chance they’ll have to talk to experts in so many areas.
Representatives from various organizations – including Bristol Hospital, the state Department of Social Services, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Social Security Administration, the state Commission on Aging, the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Fund, the Bristol Veteran’s Council and the Plymouth Senior Center – are expected to be on hand to field questions.
Bristol Hospital and the Social Services department will provide health screenings for diabetes, balance, and other conditions, the senator said.
A veterans’ bus and information booth will have answers for those wondering about veterans’ benefits.
But other booths will have experts who can help with questions on elder law, home energy efficiency, Social Security and other common issues for seniors and veterans, Colapietro said.
All area seniors, veterans, and their families are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided, he said.
The expo runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.

I guess there are no strikes to organize anymore for him.

Another photo op for Artie.

Mayor will be there I'm sure with his medals on, press & photo opportunity.

My God how petty! Ever think that maybe the mayor has his picture in the paper often because he's actively supporting the community by attending so many of these functions (unlike his opponent, the elusive Mr. Gill)?

It would have been nice if he had attended city functions BEFORE he became mayor!

Thats the difference between the d's and r's.
The d's work together no matter what. The r's fight each other, no matter what!

2:18pm - NOPE! Ward gets paid to smile and look good for the papers, Ever think that maybe Gill his job? Yeah.

3:15 - He did. It wasn't "photo worthy" then, but Art has always been involved.

Nope 3:40, I honestly never thought that "Gill his job." Not really sure what that means, but if he wants to be mayor (someday), his job should be getting involved with the community, don't you think?

not sure anymore if this blog tends to be dominated by biased republican/democratic or unaffiliated rantings but it sure is becoming evident that more than enough non-productive naysayers crave the attention of being complete idiots.
Let me be the first person this morning to tell you that if negativism is your goal, you have exceeded even your own expectations; too bad that you'll never realize any meaningful, productive measures of success.

so 1:47 - u did what?
u have helped our veterans how?
u will be at this expo helping our seniors and our veterans in what manner?
u have called senator colapietro or mayor ward to ask how you can render assiostance?
If u can answer any of these questions positively, move forward and thank you, if not - kiss off.

Hey moron, life would be better for all of us if left-wing pawns like Tommie-toupe' weren't driving good paying jobs out of our state.

12:35 pm is showing his mentality again. We could make fun of this nitwit if we knew for sure who he is. But of course we know it's the same namecalling jerk !

Too bad he can't drive you out of state. We would be a lot better off.

Anonymous said...

So are we supposed to vote for Tom because of this? No thanks.

No this is Colapietro pandering to another welfare-state-dependent special interest group.

It doesn't concern you or anyone who works hard in the private sector.

Hey JerkS You wouldn't vote for Tom for anything! What was it that you said or did that was good?

Anonymous said...

Did I hear you Jerks call these people "old geezers" ??
