Replacing Gill may take awhile longer

.Though John Gill remains the Republican mayoral nominee, he plans to resign from the campaign soon.
Once he's handed in a letter of resignation as the candidate, the GOP will call a special committee meeting at least five days later.
Since Gill hasn't yet put in the letter -- though he intends to soon -- the soonest the party could pick a successor is next week.
Party officials are still talking to various potential candidates. So I'm not sure the early word mentioned last week -- that an unidentified woman had the inside track -- is necessarily still true.
When I know more, I'll let you know.
Meanwhile, please respect Gill's privacy and don't speculate on his reasons. All that really needs to be said here is that everyone should wish him well.

I hope that Stortz is one of the ones that they are talking to.

This paragraph doesn't make sense. Did you accidentally delete a sentence or two?

All politics aside - I wish Mr.Gill a speedy recovery from what ever aliment he might have. He is a young man to have any major health issues. It's always a pleasure to see any young people Democrat or Republican step into the area of local politics.

PLEASE TELL ME IT'S JILL FITZGERALD!!!!!

I highly doubt there are several people competing for the honor. More likely that the party leaders are talking to several people and hoping to convince one of them to run.

The five days to schedule a meeting deals with the formality of nominating the person. It would be foolish for such a person to wait that long before announcing and starting to campaign.

If it is a woman I sure hope it is Jill Fitzgerald.

Run Bill Run

Why don't the republicans take the initiative: go public.

Nominate him;
State publicly that they want him;
State publicly that they want to talk with him:
State publicly that they will meet with him.

Right now, they are making all the charges, and Bill isn't playing their " I said you said game.

I am of the opinion that they are just trying to make him look bad so that they have an excuse come November.

7:37 - Your opinion sounds a lot like Stortz'.

It is not Jill Fitzgerald. She is Derek Czenczelewski's treasurer and has no interest in running.

No way no Stortz ever again. Been there done that. He is a loser...can get elected but then there is hell to pay.

GO AWAY BILL

What about Rose Parenti or Sharon Krawiecki?

Anonymous said...

Rose is running for Treasurer, Sharon is the Republican Registrar of Voters

Thank You,

I'd like to think that that puts me in good company

Does that mean that they can't run if it is for the good of the party?

the r's would be better off if they didn't continue this circus and just back the council people they have.

I hope the Republicans think different!

scene 1, act 4 said...

the r's can't think - as evidenced by their cast of mayoral drop-outs.

Who will be next?

Boy, Mocabee and Schaffrick can really pick them, can't they?

Anonymous said...

Are they a pair???

Can anyone, will anyone explain why Barnes et al are begging an unknown woman, who probably isn't even a republican, to run for mayor, but refuse to even talk with Stortz?

Makes no sense.

A pair of losers, and they are taking the party down with them, the chairman too.

We know Barns is getting direction, taking orders.

But from whom?
