Let's try again to tone it down. Again.

Time for yet another reminder that comments are most persuasive when they're well-reasoned, funny or particularly apt.
Calling a former city official "a bitch" or accusing a mayor of being a drunk are not going to make the cut. If you have something to say, please say it with a modicum of respect.
I'm going to have to be tough again about letting anonymous posters take potshots at people.

What about accusations of a councilman and future mayor being a former drunk who was once caught endangering the lives of his fellow citizens while in office? I bet if you ask Bristol citizens, less then 1/5 even know about it, and I bet if more people were made aware of it they would of voted different. There was plenty of coverage during the campaign suggesting Ken Johnson was an unethical businessman, not to mention the coverage of Ellen being accused of violating FOI and endangering democracy, as her Ward-pal accuser suggested.

Gossip column! Gossip column! Gossip column!

...When the former councilman was caught (OVER 10 YEARS AGO) it made banner headlines, the likes of which we hadn't seen since the second World War. It was front page news. During the election the subject was most definitely dragged around and beaten like the proverbial dead horse...LET IT GO!

...There was plenty of coverage during the campaign about Ken Johnson and Ellen because that stuff actually happened DURING THE CAMPAIGN...see the correlation here?

The ACCUSATIONS occured BEFORE the election .....

AFTER the election it was DISCOVERED they were unfounded ....

THAT is a difference .

...The accusations occurred DURING the primary (NOT 10 YEARS AGO). After the election (and with the aid of a team of lawyers)it was found that they were not ILLEGAL...however, the accuations were not UNFOUNDED...Ms. Zoppo herself never refuted the allegations of scripting and exclusionary tactics. Her actions may have eventually been found to be legal, but they were still IMPROPER and UNETHICAL...

Except that the former councilman caught DUI tried using legal loopholes to escape punishment. That is very relevent to an election, no matter how long ago it happened. That action is much more worse then anything his opponents were accused of, but it got no coverage. I don't care if it happened 10 years ago, Ward cited his 14 years council experience, so we are only supposed to look at the good and not the bad?

...I'm not sure exactly what "legal loopholes" he tried 10 YEARS AGO, but he was washed and hung out to dry the next day on the front page of the Bristol Press. He was punished, served his time and has not repeated the same mistake...TIME TO LET IT GO!

The bottom line is :

In the dem. primary questionable tactics were used on behalf of the ward campaign .

In the election similar tactics were again employed resulting in a ward victory .

It's sad that twice in the same week STeve has to ask for people to "tone it down".

Shows how adolescent the main visitors to this blog are.

Too bad all you brain sergeons are anonymous. The world can use all you brainy , know-it-all people.

The bottom line is:

The only questionable tactics were those of Ms. Zoppo and Mr. Johnson.

3:33pm - almost true - "adolescent" can be used to describe the vindictiveness echoed on this blog but usually it has lowered itself to ego-driven, vengeful, unsubstantiated, unwarranted, childish support of a personal opinion rather than anything positive - reread these postings, including your own, and if you are as open-minded as you would have us believe, you might want to reconsider some of your content - otherwise, refer back to the beginning of this post.
