Colapietro called "anti-family" by state group

The Family Institute of Connecticut, best known for its opposition to gay marriage, has called on supporters to back Republican Jason Welch in his bid to unseat Democratic state Sen. Tom Colapietro.
The Institute said in its statement that Colapietro is "an anti-family incumbent" who is pro-abortion and "hostile to homeschooling."
The Bristol incumbent has "a long history of voting for legislation that is anti-family and anti-life," according to the group.
Welch, on the other hand, "completely supports family values," the organization's Action Committee said in the release.
It said that Welch is one of three state Senate hopefuls who are "pro-family" who may upset an anti-family incumbent.

The Family Institute of Connecticut is a narrow minded, bigoted, anti-gay/lesbian group that seeks to deny a large segment of the population happiness by not allowing them to marry!!! They are anti-choice and ANTI-WOMAN!!! Who are they, a group of total strangers, to tell ME what I can do with my body? Abortion should be a question between me and my doctor NOT a group of total strangers.
How would we know if Welch “completely supports family values”?? He just moved into the Carpenter ESTATE in December and decided to run for office in January one month later!!! Who knows his character? Who knows where he came from? Only the rich Barne$ family seem to know him and have pushed him on to the people of Bristol. Welch doesn’t associate with the average guy on the street except to push his face into people to ask for their vote. Welch probably has the forms filled out RIGHT NOW to put all 7 kids on the State health care plan. Imagine, 9 more people on the state health care plan!!!

Exactly what anti-family legislation has Tom voted for??? Tom was endorsed by the Working Family Party which says a lot to me about his family values. You can’t be anti-family if you are for the working families.

Could this Welch be just interested in getting the legislation passed to pay home -schoolers $8,000/per child?! That's $56,000 for HI$ family!!!
WHY would someone invest all that MONEY to buy an ESTATE in a town that he doesn't even have enough faith in the town teachers to put his kids in our schools? He sounds phony to me. Something rings hollow to me about HIS character.

One more reason to beware Jason Welch. I don't know who is advising Welch, but that is not the kind of ringing endorsement he needs here in Bristol. Whether we are republican or democrat, Bristol citizens are mostly moderate and believe in minding our own business when it comes to the way other people live their lives. I am bothered by Welch's apparent connection to this anti-equality, anti-liberty group and to tea party politics. I have no problem voting for a republican. However, I do have a problem with someone who appears to be so far to the right of the spectrum being capable and willing to represent my interests in government.

8:49 has a point. Welch does have 7 kids in home school, so he would definitely have a personal motive to promote initiatives that would pay parents back for home schooling their children. does that make him family-friendly, or just self interested? Probably both, I'm thinking.

Why is adoption such a horrible alternative to abortion?

Love you speculators.
Although my kids are a product of public education, I have several close friends that have chosen home schooling. There is no hidden agenda in doing so. Why are you making this so evil and thinking that a person does this thinking just someday - they may get moeny for this? What are you smoking?
This group had endorsed Welch, it doesn't mean he is a member.
This group has a solid record for standing up for their beleifs in marrigae and family. You may not agree with those values, but they are entitled to them and you should be tolerent of them.
They don't bash the people involved, but don't support the institutions. This is called religeous freedom folks.

And to 9:21 -
quote "Bristol citizens are mostly moderate and believe in minding our own business when it comes to the way other people live their lives.." when I read the comments and blogs, you can't convince me about this statment. I have never read so many rude, in your face, bald face lies as printed on these site.

Looks like the Colapietro supporters are getting antsy. Yet another endorsement not going to Tom. Seems like the only folks supporting him are the various and many unions in town. Heck, even the majority of union employees aren't supporting him...just the union leaders.

Driving around the region you don't even see any signs for Tom, except on a few pieces of land owned by the city or CL&P. Guy apparently just sticks them where he thinks nobody will take them down, even when that property is owned by the very company he attacked in February 2005 (CL&P). Sad to see how such a "popular" political figure has finally had his past catch up with him. Enjoy retirement Tom, maybe now you can go back to school to earn an education that you sorely lacked all these years.

Oh, almost forgot to mention, funny how 8:22 would bring up how the Family Institute is bigoted or anti-gay/lesbian and anti-woman. Tom Colapietro made homophobic public comments. Here are is exact words in response to the question of whether same-sex couples should be allowed to marry:

"It’s a sickness I think," said state Sen. Tom Colapietro, a Terryville Democrat whose district includes Bristol. "It’s not a cure for the sickness allowing them to marry."

You shouldn't equate the tone or opinions on this blog with those of the general population of our City. My guess is that there are only about 30 or so people who regularly post here. However, Bristol is a City of more than 60,000 people, most of whom do not even know that this blog exists. If you live in Bristol, you should look to your neighbors and others in your community to get a general sense of the tone and tenor of people in our community. Its nothing like the smaltz printed on this blog!

Tom can't hide forever, the useless, whining baby. This group found him.

I think Colapietro may have a total of 1, maybe 2 supporters on here at best, and they must be unemployed, retired or not very busy as they are responsible for 99% of all the pro-Colapietro comments. His lack of support is actually quite telling. More and more people are turning to Jason Welch.

Blah , Blah, Blah more republican trash and I guess the family institute is joining with the republicans.

Anonymous said...

The republicans must be getting desparate ! They are stooping pretty low and being what they are they now are joining with the anti-gay group the family institute with more lies.
The so-called family institute are joining with the low life republicans and we can expect something with something that makes no sense. Why are they anti-gay. No republicans are gay ?

10:56 is right. The vocal minority on this blog are dwarfed in comparison to the many conservatives I know in Bristol. In fact, I know a number of homeschooling famiies in this town.

I'm going to give them a call right now!

Go Welch!

Yes, Go Welch! Go back to wherever you came from!

And take those 7 dwarfs with you!

Breeder.

Tom has no support askany one at ND,

@Anon 8:01:

"And take those 7 dwarfs with you!

Breeder."

That, my friends, is *the* perfect representation of liberalism, and why it must be defeated. To true believing liberals the traditional family is the enemy. They don't want to get along - they want to destroy traditional values. I've hear this type of language all the time. It isn't rare or isolated. It's mainstream liberalism. It needs to go. One week from now will be a very good start to putting the brakes on their narscistic agenda. Get out there and vote!

Tom's anti-family because he always votes to raise families' taxes. Makes perfect sense. Jason would not raise taxes...very family-friendly.

Go, Jason!

You are so rude. Shame on you.

Anonymous said...

Go Tom Colapietro "He's one of us" Not you who spew venom and hatred .You mean nothing if you stay the coward you are.

Anonymous said...

12:11 Instead of your continuous lies why don't you at least point out the incedences you are talking about? We already know you haven't got the guts nor decency to stand up and be counted (named). You are what is the perfect coward.

Anonymous said...

8:01 PM, "7 dwarfs"??? Now you've stooped to attacking little kids??? Well, why not...Tommie has no problem doing it either.

Just one more reason why we should vote for Jason Welch.

Anonymous said...

8:04 Why ? Because you are obssessed with hating Colapietro. Is Jason like you?

Anonymous said...

8:05 You wimps on here have stooped a lot lower than that. That can be proven not like you liar, that make up stories.
