Chief apologizes to police

Police Chief DiVenere apparently feels chagrin about his remarks that he suspected a cover up in the case of Officer Robert Mosback.
The Hartford Courant's Don Stacom has a story his morning about a memorandum the chief wrote to the entire force in the wake of my story the other day about his "cover up" comments.
Here are some of the words the chief used, according to the Courant:  "This was a private comment made in complete frustration. ... I do sincerely hope that this was not the case and that this did not happen, but I said what I said during the heat of the moment. ...Please know that I regret any unintended consequences of those words and certainly never expected them to be in print."
If anyone has a copy of the memo, I'd love to see it. You can email it to me at scollins@bristolpress.com. Otherwise, I'll post it next week when I get a copy from the city.

Then why did not Ward and Divenere ask for the information from the hospital, or at least call Mosback in to talk to him??

Seems like thay aided in the coverup!

The CHIEF is the problem. He fails to do his job day after day and gets away with it. This man should be fired. Watch his daily activety and you will see he collects a big check for very little time on the job. He does show up for fund raisers.

Where's Kevin "proper decorum" McCauley on this? Is he taking a nap again?

If we had a real MAYOR the chief would be fired. But he needs the donations at election time. Bristol needs change . MCCALLEY needs to step up. This is his chance.

First, I am getting pretty tired of Alex Carros (4:21pm) posting anti-Kevin McCauley comments in every discussion on this blog because he has an axe to grind with the guy. Alex, please stop, you are embarassing yourself.

Second, the mayor is the CHAIRMAN of the police board. He should not be acting like he is not part of this. Divenere has been a poor leader for years and Arty does not step upto address the issues at the PD for whatever reason he has. Doesn't know how? Doesn't care?

Third, I agree - it's time for the Council to step up, and into this mess becuse the mayor is not going to.

4:21PM & 6:33PM...Did You Forget, Let Me REMIND YOU...It's Been ALMOST A Year and Kevin McCauley Is STILL Out On WORKMAN'S COMPENSATION From BFD...Need I Say More...

The Chi9ef is a poor leader at best. Hes been brought up on more charges then anyone else in BRISTOL. Still collects the big check. No one stands up to this LEMON.

Heres your chance a KEVIN .

First, we're getting pretty tired of you accusing everyone who makes a remark about McCauley of being Alex Carros. Whether you believe it or not, Mr. Carros isn't the only one who finds Kevin's performance lacking.

Second, quit trying to drag the entire city into this situation. It's being dealt with by the proper authorities. The city council needn't "step up" and do anything, especially McCauley.

To a fed up democrat. Over a year ago Kevin McCaley, at a burning building, slipped on ice breaking his ankle in several places and injuring his knee. He has had three operations, the third last week. I know Kevin wants to and will return to work as soon as he can do his dangerous job. I say thank you ALL first responders for doing the job you do. Need I say more

They cant ask questions when they have the same problem. The chief is well aware of whats going on but cant do anything because of his own problems. Steve work on this one .

The tax payers in BRISTOL ARE GETTING SCREWED. This leadership is the worst ever. The voters better wake up and stop CRONYISM HERE. This must stop.

Chief is the story going around SPORTIES TRUE. Drugs and steroids are big in the dept. You cant say to much or they will turn on you and then no PENSION.

The TOWN COUNCIL better get involved or they will all be gone next election.

Time for a town manager. BRISTOL HAS FAILED ITS TAX PAYERS.

Either KEN OR KEVIN should run for Mayor and break this group up. Get the axe ready.

To 9:30AM...You Stand Correct It Was Over 1 Year Ago That Kevin Was Injured...My Question and Concern Is How Can Kevin Collect From The City Council When He's Out On Comp...He Walks Well and Attends ALL The Meetings...Yet, He Can't Return To The BFD...Smells "FISHY" To Me...

Are you serious.

Neither has a clue, both have egos that equal Wards.

They are part of the problem, they aren't the solution.

October 9, 2010 9:10 PM aka Clueless McCauley supporter

You have a good point. Maybe McCauley's adversaries will stop now completely and wait about 10 months to let it rip. McCauley should praise you for giving his adversaries political tips on how to unseat him.

McCauley and his supporters have a lot of nerve dragging someones name out of no where, targeting and trying to embarrass someone into submission. But what would you expect from a such a rotten person and his equally classless and lame brained supporters?

Anonymous said...

Oh boy here come the McCauley hacks. Could it be Allen Wacko, Craig Minor-role, or Dr. Breakdown? Or maybe someone else.

October 9, 2010 9:10 PM: DO you see that you contradict yourself? You attack the comment in regards to where Council-person McCauley stands on this but then you go and state that you think the council should "step up". I have an idea for you. Why not just shut up?

What's Ryan Smart have to say?

Anonymous said...

The question is not whether McCauley is a decent fire-fighter. That's the business of his superiors in the FD. The question is whether Kevin McCauley has the aptitude, experience, education and decision-making ability to be a competent city council-person. In my opinion the answer to that question is NO.
