So what's the party Wednesday evening?

To the anonymous poster or posters who keep talking about the city spending taxpayer money on a party Wednesday night, let's not beat around the bush. What exactly are you talking about? Who held a party? For what purpose?
If you know the who, what, where, when and why, let's have it. You're anonymous, so tell all.

Sounds interesting. Anyone who was there want to fill us all in on what it was for and who attended?

na steve no one will pony up to chicken, rather bash you for not doing your job.

Are you guys talking about the lunch held by the Chamber at Chipannee for professional assitants and administrators? There were some city assitant's there in honor of their day. I think the cost was 25 dollars and it was open to all chamber members.

Steve,

Why not ask the Mayor?

Steve Collins said...

I'll ask the mayor, of course, but it's not worth tracking him down on my day off.
I suspect this is some kind of mistaken reading of the annual "secretary's day" luncheon that the chamber puts on.
I know the mayor went to that and admitted his assistant, Mary Suchopar, holds the real power.
I'm sure a number of other city department heads and secretaries were there, too. They go every year.

probably some johnny homeowner upset he didnt get invited to some thing that was not. just more ill advised taxpayers shouting their mouths off

Steve, the point is that it wasn't free, even for chamber members. It was another expense that the taxpayers paid for. I'm not saying that the secretaries and assistance at City Hall don't deserve recognition for what they do however, given the state of the City's finances right now, it was a poor choice.

The city leaders need to look at EVERY DOLLAR they spend and determine if it's warranted or not. "It's only $25 a person" is the wrong way to look at our money. That $25 adds up and could have been used for something more important.

No matter what it was money is tight and people are watching a dollar adds up. Just ask mayor stortz.

BRISTOL is in need of common sense before spending money.

Anonymous said...

who said the city paid for it, as remeber in .thet past the chamber paid for it. stop jumping to conclusion get the fact's. unitl then no one will take you seriously

8:30 PM, Unfortunately for us, jumping to conclusions is the ONLY exercise some of these fools get.

Just another example of government arrogance.

IT WAS PROBABLY FOR SECRETARIES DAY AND AS FAR AS I'M CONCERNED, THEY WORK THEIR TAILS OFF AND ARE ENTITLED TO A LITTLE SPECIAL TREATMENT. WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT A LOT OF PEOPLE HERE. IS THIS WHAT WE'VE COME TO? NICKLE AND DIMING EVERYTHING THE CITY DOES? COME ON, PEOPLE! IT'S TRICKLE DOWN. IT YOU DON'T LIKE WHAT'S GOING ON HERE, TRY TALKING TO SOMEONE AT THE STATE LEVEL ABOUT UNFUNDED MANDATES.

8:30 - the City did pay for it, not the Chamber. It was a Per Head cost that came out of City money. Not a wise decision.

I thought that Ward had put a stop to all the "free meals".

Sorta went the way of his GPS study.

steve who paid for this event?

Steve Collins said...

The chamber's website for the
Administrative Professionals and Staff Appreciation Day LUNCHEON at Chippanee Golf Club says it was sponsored by Bristol Hospital, ESPN and the Ultimate Companies.
I don't know how much it cost to attend, but it's typically about $25 a person. I didn't go this year, but in the past I've seen quite a few city personnel at these events.
Is it worth the money? I have no idea. But it doesn't strike me as especially extravagant.

the only ones being made fools of on this posting are you idiots who prove, again, to be useless, rumor monging jerks with no respect for even yourselves.
read back and try to realize how absolutely stupid you proved yourselves to be - how do you recover now?
mommy, they are picking on me, I shinned my knee and oh, I bruised my mouth by sticking both feet into it.
you jerks belong in the same corner of a place for one-winged gnats.
thank god that you don't have the bal-s to identify yourselves, your mothers would revoke your birth certificate.

I don't think taxpayer funds should be used for parties.
