Dem chair may be interested in running himself

The city's Democratic Party chair, Elliott Nelson, told me he is weighing his options in terms of a possible campaign for something this year.
That's as much as he would say.
But there are rumors he's eyeing a possible primary against state Sen. Tom Colapietro, a Bristol Democrat.

Ward wants Tom out, Elliot really doesn't want in. But another chance for Ward to make points with R's, and keep them off his back.

Maybe this is the start of something good. About time we get rid of these lossers.

He's crazy. What's his support base? His compadres at the Fire Department hate him because he's joined to Ward at the hip; the DTC only tolerates him because no one else wants his chairman job (and if they did, it would bring down the wrath of Ward). He has never held any elective office nor served on any committee that I'm aware of. What is he thinking?

If Elliot gets in the race will he be labeld a Colapietro Hater?

After all, anyone who doesn't agree with Tom is a "Colapietro Hater."

Well gee, if some of the guys down at the Fire House don't like him...he'd better just give up now!

Get a life Odin. Elliott is a great guy and lots of people (beside a handful of disgruntled firemen) think very highly of him. I wish him success and would gladly support him in whatever position he pursues.

Ward is getting power hungry

LOOK at the state of the state from this perspective:

1970's.... Lottery system created to be "exclusively for the school and education system in the state." Politicians subsequently saw that windfall and of course the money disappears which is one of the reasons Sheff V. O'Neil came about.
1980's... Inflation, massive unemployment but yet somehow government still manages to grow.
1990's.. Income tax instituted under Weicker. According to him it was only until the state was in the plus again. Underhandedly one of the biggest players in letting our only pro sports franchise go and magically ends up on Peter Karmanos' board of directors. Emissions fiasco that cost the state milllions. People mass exiting the state (enough to loose a congressional distric) yet government still grows. Millions from the tribal resorts in casino revenues and again the biggest employer in the State of Connecticut is the State of Connecticut.
Mass corruption... Rowland, Gannim, Diorgiano, Deluca, Newton, Santapietro... yet the same firms that these men were convicted of taking bribes from still have thier "STATE" jobs paving, building highways, etc.
Decades of being #1 in highest taxes v. disposable income and yet we are still broke. In 20 years tax revenue has increased by the tens of millions to this state and we are still broke. Does anyone else see the writing here?

7:17 Being so long winded like the rest of your hacks you forgot your mayor Guliani

Anonymous said...

Yeah I see the writing here. You should sell insurance in North Carolina. You'll be back fast! Go where the money is get it ?

Anonymous said...

Ward is getting power hungry? Correction - Ward is Power hungry - fatboy needs to go.

Anonymous said...

Guiliani was mayor of Connecticut? He jsut mentioned politicians from Connecticut, both Republican and Democrat

Anonymous said...

Art, if you shoot the king, you better make sure you kill him!

8:53 PM, Fatboy? Wow! Bet you're one of the meanest kids in 3rd grade...(what a putz!)

7:20am - look in the mirror Art!

Keep in mind we're talking about someone who wants to replace the party incumbent. Elliott is a nice guy and of course his friends like him, but he is completely unknown beyond his circle of friends and party insiders. The state convention in May is not going to dump Colapietro for Nelson, and if he's foolish enough to force a primary, there is no reason for any Democrat to vote for him over Colapietro.

Anonymous said...

Since when does this blog ever talk about what's at issue ?

Anonymous said...

This is all about Art Ward. Colapietro is close with Zoppo, and Ward is trying to get rid of everyone who is close with Zoppo.

Anonymous said...

10:54, If I look in the mirror..I won't be seeing Art. Stop making assumptions...you're really not very good at it.

Anonymous said...

Again, Art "I am the Mayor' Ward is dissing people in Hartford.

And you wonder why we don't get support from them.

Don't you think that Tom has made many friends in his time in Hartford?

Anonymous said...

Tom "stick a fork in me" Colapietro is done. Time for some new blood with or without a "support base." It's time for a change.

Anonymous said...

2:51, You really need to get over the Zoppo thing. Although she still has her little lap dogs, she's just not that important. Nobody cares.

Anonymous said...

If Nelson gets elected will he still be Arties designated driver?

Anonymous said...

Dream on loser 5:14.

6:54 It's easy to figure out who's worse............YOU !

Anonymous said...

8:18/8:21: Wow. Real snappy combacks...for a third grader. LMAO!!!!

Anonymous said...

Remember when Ward was primarying Zoppo? We all knew who was taking her signs - Yeah Art the truth is out. Must make you feel good you won. Problem is you have no idea what you are doing.

Anonymous said...

Hahahahah, 8:19 AM you are a riot! So now Zoppo lost because her signs went AWOL???? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! News flash - she lost because the citizens of Bristol didn't want her...period.

not likely said...

8:19 - art had so many signs which may be that art reworded all of her signs? how resourceful, how ingenious.
imagine turning all of the "z's" into "w's", all of the "o's" into "a's", all of the "p's" into "r's" and all of the "o's" into 'D'S".
signs would have read "warrd for mayor" - oops, too many "r's" - have to redo them....hmmmmmm.

A Proud Democrat said...

Thank You 9:04AM...YOU HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD!!!

Anonymous said...

Newsflash - Art buddies did it just to piss her off. It has nothing to do with the number of signs one has - losers.

circle time said...

9:04 - maybe she lost because her sign lettering wasn't "scripted", like her under the table, stabbing in the back, methods of operating.

Didn't know Colapietro was tight with Zippo... now he's on my "vote out" list too.

Anonymous said...

5:40 Where have you been? Trying to find something to talk about besides Colapietro? Loser

Anonymous said...

Zoppo is as close to Colapietro as Ward is to Krawiecki.

Politics in Bristol is weird!

Anonymous said...

Sen Colapietro crushes elliot in a primary.

ridiculous said...

have any of you idiots asked nelson if he were running or not? has colapietro asked nelson if he is running or not?
talk about a rumor mill, thank goodness most of you jerks probably wouldn't vote anyhow because you would be forced to "think." - scary.

Anonymous said...

What has Colapietro done for Bristol? Nothing. I hope Elliot runs. We can only do better with Tom (it is really my natural hair) gone.

Anonymous said...

Ward and krawiecki are probably even closer.

trust counts said...

"ward and kraweicki are probably closer" is probably because ward doesn't/wouldn't have to worry about the size of the samauri sword that is being put in his back.

Anonymous said...

1:08

I think Artie may be surprised.

Anonymous said...

I heard that Ward would even support Zoppo over Colapietro.

sic said...

12:45 - yep and Rush limbaugh is lobbying in the best interests of everyone other than himself - NOT.

Anonymous said...

3:53

Are you saying that Ward is opposing Colapietro for his own benefit?

Not Artie.
