Casar choice delayed for a month

Details to follow later, but Mayor Art Ward told me he's not going to offer a Board of Finance appointment tonight. My understanding is that the mayor wants a chance to talk with Bob Casar first and plans to include the finance chair and vice chair in the talks.

Casar will make a great addition to the Finance Board.

Bob's a great guy, and incredibly well-versed in finance and government. He'd do very well for Bristol. Here's to hoping the Mayor and his cronies can look past party politics and place someone qualified to a board for once.

Will you boys stop picking on Casar!?!

He's a nice boy, just like his leader!!

Will the "details to follow later" reveal the real reason Art withdrew Casar's name? Supposedly wanting to talk with him and Mize sounds fishy.

I don't get it. Wasn't Casar at first "Ward's pick" for the board? Now he isn't?

Should have talked to him and vetted him BEFORE he brought his name up!

Typical Ward!

--For once? Are you referring to Ward's appointments or the Board in general. If you're referring to the history of the BOF, your's is an ignorant statement.

--My opinion is that there are many better choices than Casar. It is not because of his politics but I just think this guy is more interested in himself than he is in Bristol.

And people wonder why no one wants to get involved. This is an unpaid position and you have someone willing to serve the city and the attacks begin. Bob is a great guy and will add value to this board.

To all of the critics out there...
You can not like his politics,
disagree with decisions he has made or think he is inexperienced.
However, unless you can tell us about his wife and son, where he grew up, how many siblings he has or pretty much anything about him, you have not taken the time to really know Bob. Therefore you really can't judge his character or know his real reasons for volunteering his service to the city of Bristol.

As you said...

Whether he's a great guy or not, there's better choices.

Albeit there's even more of people who would be worse choices.

I'll bet the local unions (teacher unions especially) and administrators are the ones with the biggest problem with him. Does he support the mega-school debacle?

What does...
1)his wife and son
2)where he grew up,
3)how many siblings he has
...have to do with serving on the board of finance?

Serving on the Board of Finance demands for example:
1) time away from family
2) Some type of education regarding city business, economics, and finance.
3) The abilty to overcome pressure and influence from outside interests

-I do not see Bob Casar adequately meeting the last expectation...
seeing where he is in life.

-I also see him too tied and under the influence of the Barne$$$$ family. They dominate the local Republican Party, local government policy etc. Do they need a pawn on the Board of Finance?

Mr. Mayor...NO!

You people who sit back and throw BS are a joke. You attack a person that you do not know because you do not know him. Well I do know him, his family, where he grew up, etc. and believe he will do just fine on this board. He is a person of great character, a good father, husband, friend and does not deserve all the crap from folks who rather whine then step up themselves.

I am proud to call him a friend, believe in his capabilities and hope he still wants to serve on this board if selected.

Casar doesn't have a clue. He should be talking about controlling city spending, keeping taxes low and growing the private sector. He sounds like a customer service rep from Geico. He is a buffoon and should not be on the finance board. It's a disgrace to the men and women who spent countless hours laboring to do the aforementioned things to let this clown to take their place.

Talk about not having a clue. If you actually knew Bob and his background you'd know that he is more than qualified to be on this board.

It's easy to name call and you add no value to the discussion.
