Wednesday is Ronnie Cassin Day in Connecticut

Governor M. Jodi Rell has issued the following proclamation:

WHEREAS, Rosemarie “Ronnie” Cassin, as Citizen Advocacy Coordinator from 1977 to 1981, developed a pilot program in the State of Connecticut which continues to serve as a statewide model to support individuals with developmental disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie has been the Executive Director of the Bristol Adult Resource Center (Bristol ARC) for twenty-seven years, during which time she has touched the lives of countless individuals and families with a positive impact; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie has directed the expansion of Bristol ARC supports and services to include a wide range of community residential and employment initiatives; and

WHEREAS, under Ronnie’s leadership, Bristol ARC has established consumer- run enterprises including a restaurant, greenhouse, commercial and residential lawn maintenance service, candy kitchen and a boutique; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie has established numerous business and government relationships which have served to promote the integration of citizens with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, since 1986, under Ronnie’s leadership, Bristol ARC has consistently achieved the maximum national accreditation level during every accreditation survey, a distinction which is recognized among providers of services for people with disabilities; and

WHEREAS, Ronnie has collaborated with federal, state and local leaders and benefactors to advance Bristol ARC’s Mission and programs for the past twenty-seven years; now

THEREFORE, I, M. Jodi Rell, Governor of the State of Connecticut, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Connecticut’s developmentally disabled citizens, do hereby officially proclaim, June 11, 2008, as Rosemarie “Ronnie” Cassin Day in the State of Connecticut
