I asked Republican congressional candidate Joe Visconti of West Hartford what he thought of U.S. Rep. John Larson's press release on oil drilling. Here's what Visconti sent back a few minutes ago:
I am on the run but just saw your email and Larson's press release. His quote of "For seven years he has allowed speculators to run rampant in the energy markets. It is time for that to end.” refering to the President is hysterical because if the President has done this than so has he and the Democrats who have controlled the House and Senate since 06. Larson continues to show up late with a note from Pelosi saying the dog ate my homework. Larson also says it will take ten years to get any oil from ANWAR, well John you have held office for 10 years now and just had a ten year celebration, just what were you celebrating, 10 years of Blocking Domestic Oil Exploration and Drilling?
Washington and Larson need to stop playing pin the tail on the donkey, take off the blindfolds and promote a comprehensive Energy plan which includes more Domestic Drilling NOW, more Clean and Safe Nuclear Planning NOW both of which will require vast amounts of private and public short and long term investment.

Good for him.
Visconti is so right about the Dems doing nothing since they have been in control. Did they not see the price of oil starting to climb! Dems out Republincans in! Dumb Donkeys need to go and we need the Republicans back in control!
It's nice to see someone with common sense running for office .
Visconti is the one who needs to get his facts straight. According to the news tonight, opening offshore drilling would produce at best 2.5 years of oil at current rates of consumption and it would take 5 - 10 years for it to come on line. Also, the oil companies have thousands of leases for offshore sites that are not effected by this ban that they have not drilled on to date. Opening the offshore sites would only create a financial bonanza for the bloated, cash drunk oil companies at the risk of catastrophic environmental damage in the event of a major spill. Even the Governator opposes opening offshore drilling off the coast of Kaleefornia.
Its interesting that Visconti is making this an issue on the same day President Bush did so. I guess the Republican propaganda machine is still cranking away even without Turd Blossom at the controls. Visconti is just parroting the talking points of the day as issued by his puppet masters.
5:17 After the Republicans screwed things up for years we want to give it back ? Get real you fake wanna be but can't be .
To 7:20 and besides Larson who's that ?
Nucelar power?
These politician need a course in radiation chemistry in order to be reminded that the half life of the fuel for these fission reactors is 10,000 years.
The NRC is still fighting with communities about how and where to store the spent fuel from the old reactors!
No state wants to be the dumping ground for the spent radioactive fuel from these reactors.
Much of the spent radioactieve fuel is being stored on the old reactor sites.
This is not a pretty picture if you consider security, and the potential for "dirty bombs".
Nuclear power?
Yep, just what we need - More 3 Mile Islands, and Chernobyls, cancer, and tons of spent radioactive fuel with no place to go.

What's your alternative then, "fart power"?
It is always amazing how we say we can't do something, but never offer an alternative! Dem's idea is to add a new tax, that will produce more energy!!!
