Mayor backs Tonon for finance appointment

Mayor Art Ward decided Friday that he plans to name Paul Tonon to fill a vacant seat on the city's Board of Finance.
Tonon is a Boston College graduate, married with two children.
he worked for Premier Logistics Service in Bristol and previously worked for IBM and Texaco. He is also the former owner of Northeast Distribution in Bristol, a shipping company.
Tonon would take the finance board seat that has been held by Don Soucy, whom the mayor chose not to reappoint.
There's a special council session slated for 5 p.m. Monday to vote on Ward's pick for the fisal panel.

Another buddy of Mieznikowski.

One step forward, two steps backWARD

Where does that leave Dunlop?

HEY, I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine :)

It leave Dunlap as an Unaffiliate that will need to change back to a Dem before the next primary. You know -- the one between Minor and Ward.

Yeah, but will he be Wards Treasurer again?

Just as long as he doesn't nominate Mark Tonon.

This is a great choice by Mayor Ward. He continues to make excellent decisions.

? - thank goodness the morons who post on here are only hopeless whiners wishing to be anything/anyone who doesn't have to be held accountable for anything - be scary if they really had something positive to contribute to society.

watch "meatball minor" come up with some idealistic stupidity to try and stall the appointment - maybe the new ordinance should address picking up "minor poop", which he spews. instead of the dog stuff.

Great decisions like Bob Dunlop?

Thankfully we do have checks and balances

I don't really care who it is other than Dunlap. That was an incredibly stupid idea so whoever got him to change his mind and all of a sudden "make a great choice" should be commended because we know he didn't do it on his own.

GLen Klocko is ecstatic!

HOW MUCH DID THIS CLOWN CONTRIBUTE TO WARD'S CAMPAIGN IN 2007?
It'd be interesting to find out. Oh but Dunlap left that stuff out didn't he?

Strange but true. Who voted for this guy (Ward)? Not me!

Tonon is a good friend of Mieznikowski, who is a good friend of Art Ward. Art Ward wants to control of the finance board. He figures by ensuring at least two of his buds are on the Finance Board, he will have some control. Ward is a true politician who believes in the "if you scratch my back, I'll scratch your back" way of thinking. Which is why we desperately need a COO.

It would have been more palatable if Ward had nominated any one of the more qualified non-supporters to the Board of Finance.

But he didn't, he played politics and played it safe.

At our expense.

~ No matter who the mayor nominates, the naysayers will find something wrong with his choice. Instead of playing politics, he's basing his decision on what's best for Bristol...a foreign concept to many of our other politicians.

~ Keep up the good work Mayor Ward!

For those that are involved, and know the players and process, we know that Art IS playing politics (still!).

Ward selected an unknown republican because the democrats won't have anything to do with him.

He could have picked a democrat, but didn't.

? - wow, and what about any appointment to city/state/federal government - it isn't politics?
I think that it is referred to as being part of the "political process?"
Are we supposed to believe that if it were another republican or democratic mayor making the appointment, that it wouldn't be considered political?
Give it up you sorry bunch of twerps.

"we know that Art IS playing politics"

~ Art is a POLITICIAN, making POLITICAL decisions ~ that would appear to be part of the job description, don't ya think?

Has Tonon EVER been to a city meeting?

Has he ever shown any interest in the city?

Make sure he sits next to Mize or Erling so someone can tell him how to vote.

If this guy has to sit next to someone to learn how to vote, let's hope its not next to Mize or Erling.
