Rimcoski's take on the council battle

City Councilor Mike Rimcoski said this morning that he was surprised at the turn of events last night.

"Craig shot himself in the foot," said the Republican veteran, for pushing to delay the appointment of three park commissioners allied with Mayor Art Ward.

He said Ward is angry, which is no surprise.

"I'm sure this battle isn't over," Rimcoski added.

Right on Mike! Craig does not know how to act professional, he should not be sitting in the council seat. Craig needs to remember he works for the taxpayers not himself. His pawns Kevin & Cliff are the same if they back Craig. Stop the game playing and move on.

What's "no surprise" is that Mike is clueless about what really happened. This was not about the Park Board; it was about forcing Ward to reinstate the Park Revitalization Committee which has been working on this project for years and Ward wants to dissolve. Is anyone really surprised that Mike didn't pick up on any of this? He is a very simple guy and has no idea how power works. If he can't reduce it to a funny sound bite, it goes over his head.

It was very disappointing to see we might be in for two years of nothing but exacting political revenge.Call me crazy but I think those who actually chose to vote did so because they expected the candidate of their choice to,you know,GOVERN? They most certainly did not cast their ballot to allow ANY candidate to spend the next two years exacting political revenge! With all the great possibilities coming Bristols' way(ie. SE Industrial Park,Rte.72 Ext.,Park Revitalization and Downtown),this is certainly NOT the time for "political games!"Would like to see this administration,et al,work TOGETHER to realize all the great oppurtunities ahead of our City.

And you all thought it was Stortz that was the problem.

Who gets the blame now?

Tim, too bad you didn't start complaing two years ago.

Other than a different mayor, what is different know?

Your buddy Artie didn't play political games????

I guess it all depends on whose ox is being gored.

Unfortunately, it seems that the City of Bristol is the one being gored by the assine antics of Zoppo's henchmen.

It's very simple.

Ward wants to shift responsibility and credit to HIS people on the Park Board, now after all the hard work has been done by others.

Minor and the others want to keep the separate Park Revitalization Committee so they can keep the responsibility and credit for work they have been doing for a long time.

If Ward would just keep the separate Park Revitalization Committee, the Council would have immediately approved his choices for the regular Park Board.

Ward is the one extracting political revenge.

Tim, I agree that they all need to come together, but the previous poster got it right. Mr. Ward wants it his way or the highway and that's not working together. The present Park Revitalization Comm. has done a great job over the years and all he wants to do is replace some if not all of them. Why? His desire to get rid of them is extremely suspect. I hope rumblings of his being a good ol' boy mayor, replacing good people with "promised positions" for those who helped him get elected, is not more than just rumor. Blaming the council for not moving ahead is unfair and definitely not accurate. Let's look at the whole picture, shall we? The council only wants to see progress to continue rather than to wipe the slate clean and start with people who have no track record with regard to revitalizing our parks. Why mess with a good thing? Mr. Ward, please do the right thing.

Mr. Rimcoski,

How can you say Mr. Minor shot himself in the foot? Being a member of the audience, I felt it was inappropriate of you to deny Mr. Minor the opportunity to explain his position on the matter. You made a mistake by shutting down important dialogue, but now you want to blame Mr. Minor for your mistake. Had the public been given an opportunity to hear Mr. Minor's explanation, I don't believe this would have been as big a deal as it is turning out to be. In the future you should let people on the council speak before you attempt to deny them their right to give their support or denial of an issue. I know these meetings tend to go late, but cutting them off is not in the best interest of the citizens of this city.

Name one thing THIS park rev. committee has done. The two parks were done under that last Rev. committee. The park board must approve recommendations from the Park Rev. committee - so your point?
Sounds like a bunch of whiners with sour grapes. Now is not the time to start playing games but to move forward. If Minor and Mccauley were voted out in Nov. we would not be facing this little child mentality right now.

OH BROTHER...

if I hear "forward" one more time, I am going to puke.

Minor and McCauley come to the table with experience....and a positive position with the voting public...

face the facts....McCauley was 1st in voters in his District

Minor was second in his ....BUT had almost twice as many votes as the 3rd candidate.

GET OVER IT!

We all need to work together to make Bristol a better place
