Breaking the tie

City Councilor Ken Cockayne said he changed his vote on the reappointment of three park commissioners last night after receiving assurances from Mayor Art Ward that a new Park Revitalization Committee would be named in January.
Once he had that assurance, Cockayne said, "I was fine with going ahead with the appointments."
"The mayor's word is good as gold with me," Cockayne said.
He said that he feels strongly the park revitalization panel should be put in place again because of its importance in overseeing the multi-million dollar park project.
Cockayne said he recognizes that he is likely to be a swing vote between two factions on the council, but he won't play politics.
"I owe nobody nothing," Cockayne said, adding that when he walks into the council chambers, he's going to do whatever he thinks is best for Bristol and its citizens, not what politicians might want from him.

See, if Minor and Block had been adult enough to talk to Art about the Park Revitalization Committee then they wouldn't have needed the theatrics that they put on last night.

HEY CRAIG, IT'S CALLED COMMUNICATION. IF YOU TALK TO THE MAYOR YOU MIGHT GET SOMEWHERE. IT'S AMAZING THAT A FRESHMAN COUNCILMAN HAD TO TEACH YOU THAT LESSON.

To be fair to Minor, he may not consider Ward's word "good as gold."

"I owe nobody nothing"

...just the good ole boys, Ken.

Have a beer for me with your new buddy, "arty-the-Dem-party".

No, he may not consider Ward's word as good as gold, but he could have at least talked to him about it.

Minor needs to stop trying to play tough and grow up.

Steve, what do you mean "to be fair to Craig"?

Craig wasn't being fair to the Mayor or to the people that were up for reappointment. All he had to do was ask one question.

"Mr. Mayor, when do you plan on reinstituting the Park Revitalization Committee?"

Maybe Ken can give lessons to Minor, Mccauley and Block on doing what is best for Bristol.

"The mayor's word is good as gold with me"

Spoken like a true Democrat Ken. Way to go jerk!

they have tried talking to the mayor....hasn't been working too well from all sides.

has Cockayne been told WHO the mayor is going to put on? that might have been the question to ask.

Or perhaps Craig tried to contact the Mayor and didn't get a response, sort of like what Stortz did to Ward? Remember that?

Or perhaps the Mayor told Ken something different than he told Craig.

Or perhaps the idea of a "new" Park Revitalization Committee created by Ward is not the same thing as keeping the old one that has done all the work. And that is not what Craig wants, nor should it be, since Ward can just stack it with his cronies.

I find it pathetic that some of you automatically make excuses for Ward but quickly criticize people like Minor without having a clue about what happened, or dig out the old Ellen puppet master charge. I guess that's what happens when your Zip Code is Ward's posterior.

Common denominator now and in the past has been Craig.

Poster who feels that keeping the same park rev. committee together because they did all the work - yet has a problem with reappointing 3 board members? Wow talk about speaking out of both sides of your mouth. Ward may keep a few of them on. But its hard to trust people who were to tied to Ellen's butt - can you blame Ward for wanting to change a few people?

Cockayne has been and still is in Ellen's camp.

Watch him.

If Minor, Mccauley and new found puppet block keep following ellen's agenda, we might be able to get rid of all of them too in 2009/ Sounds exciting to me.

Maybe Ward did not want to sit with Minor and others, just like he did not want to sit and discuss Rosenthal with Stortz

Since when has Cockayne been in Ellen's camp? I thought all the spin would have died down after the election, but I guess not. Ken does something smart and garners some press and Artie's spin doctors start bashing away.

Seems like Ken is smarter than people thought.

With all the factions within the Dems, someone has to step up and move Bristol forward.

Good job Councilman Cockayne!

Ken,

Don't let Mocabee hear you say that you won't listen to the politicians.

Cockayne, a freshman Republican will only last 1 term, sleep with the devil and you pay the price,
