New year's resolutions

You can post your own resolutions here, of course, but you're also welcome to post the resolutions that our leaders ought to make. Give them some ideas.

Ignore local politics

With all the exciting possibilities in store for Bristol(ie. Rte.72,Park Revitalization,SE Industrial Park and Downtown)I would just like to see our elected officials knock off all the past political "gamesmanship",work as one and begin to make some of the aforementioned(sp?) possibilities become realities!I would also like to see the citizens of our City take a more POSITIVE outlook on what we COULD be!

I second the sentiment, Tim. We all need to be mindful that as long as we are working for the betterment of Bristol, we may not always agree. However, mere disagreement does not necessarily mean someone has an evil intent.

I also hope and pray that events in Iraq and Afghanistan will allow us to start bringing our extraordinary men and women in uniform HOME to their loved ones!

Tim, good ideas, but I suggest you include your friend Art Ward in that critique, because he is just as guilty, perhaps even more guilty, than many other officials.

2:29 PM: please reference 11:08 AM

1:12am poster: you are obviously defending Art Ward. but the call for being positive is meaningless so long as people refuse to acknowledge the faults of their favorite elected officials. that goes for everyone.

December 25, 2007 12:39 PM Poster

Let it go already. Let's hope that ALL elected officals agree to work together for the betterment of Bristol.

12:39, seems quite obvious that 11:08 was including ALL

12:39 poster: You are obviously singling out Art Ward from the other officials, which is exactly the kind of senseless finger pointing that we need to stop. Fault is in the eye of the beholder. ALL of the officials need to get over their collective egos and work together for the good of the City. They've got a lot of serious work that needs to be done and they ALL need to pull together and stop the petty bull@3*$! if they hope to succeed.

And the point of this post was what, Steve?

The point about Ward was made in response to Gamache, who was a Ward supporter who constantly turned a blind eye to questionable tactics by Ward. Calls for unity are useless as long as people have different standards for different politicians.

Suggested resolution for Mayor Ward ......

I reslove to do everything in my power to ban public employee private retirement accounts and have them enjoy the benefits of the social security pensions of the citizens that have paid their salaries .

The funds from all the private retirement accounts could then go into the general fund and the taxpayers of Bristol would enjoy massive tax reductions .

8:40 am poster:

It is not ego that is causing conflict on the council. It is a clash of values, and that will never go away.

Get rid of Minor and McCauley and there will no longer be any problems. These two cannot let go of the past and are still bitter over Ellen's loss. Time to do what is right for Bristol - not what is right for the two of them.

Nicastro too.

You may not realize it, but he is the one stirring the pot, for his own benefit.

Minor and McCauley need to start thinking of what is best for the city and not their ego. Playing a their immature games with volunteers is disgusting.

.....the scary parts are that the both of these "m & m" boys - "milky way and mars bar" want you to believe that they are thinking for themselves this term - wow, scary thought or what?
