Ken Karl's house valued by city at $174K

Though Ken Karl said today he hasn't received his revaluation notice, the website listing the new city assessments says the city pegged the value of the 313 Main St. house the city just knocked down at $173,900.
That was its value on October 1.
A month later, the city demolished the oldest house on Main Street because, officials said, it was too dangerous to leave standing.
Then again, the city-owned, vacant lot between Karl's property and Steve Coan's house, a little more than a third of an acre, is worth $127K, according to the assessor. So the house on Karl's lot didn't add a whole lot of value.

I'm not sure ...... Do you think the mall site that asst. mayor Ward was involved in purchasing is going to be worth more or less once it is removed ?
In any case ..... I doubt many think it was an intelligent move .

Too bad mr. ward blocked any moves to remedy the situation during the stortz tenure .

Does the value really help determine whether the towns' actions in distroying a private enterprise was the 'right' course of action ?

I wish Coans house was worth a lot. The he might sell it and leave town.

Ooooh, that WOULD be sweet. Buh-bye, Coan! Don't let the door hit you on the way out of town.

Is Ward going to do anything about the mess on the other empty lot on Main street?

It is an embarassment!

Ward can't do anything with that property, it belongs to Geladono

Looks like the Karl property has become a home for orphan shopping carts.

Check it out Kevin.

Kevin won't do anything, his director is gone.

Lets not forget that Ellen was involved in this whole house deal.
On the day the house was moved she was there with her family saying what a great thing this was for the city. How good for the city is it now Ellen?

Does Ken Karl own the property that the house was on? Does he now own property worth $174K that he paid the city $1.00?

Sad that the city continues to destroy historic houses.

There was over 50k worth of donated materials in the house as well as all of the contractors tools.

The city is being sued by the contractor for numerous reasons.

Finally bristol will have to pay for their lack of preservation.

Yes . . . it is sad that destroying private property and covering up all kinds of behind the scenes" atrocities will become obvious with the law suit. Tax payers will pay for this, and that is what is even more sad.
