City Council meeting tonight

I probably won't try to live blog the meeting. It gets a little wearisome.
But I will likely post something or another as the session drags on to its finale.
It's the last scheduled council meeting for Mayor William Stortz and city Councilor Ellen Zoppo.
It could be the end, too, for other incumbents who have to win over constituents on Nov. 6 if they want to return for November's monthly council meeting.

Steve - how do you live blog? Is there wifi at City Hall or do you use your cell phone for an internet connection?

Alas, there is no wifi at City Hall. That's something the city should do, for the convenience not just of the public but also for board members and officials who could quickly and easily get information during meetings.
Anway, I have a Sprint PCS wireless card. That's how I can do it.

Hello Steve, I know it is time consuming to report live from the meeting, but it's really valuable to some of us grey folks who can't make it to the meeting without hardship or see public access cable tv, more than you might think. Even just a run down of what happened and what was decided, what major boards have new members, not necessarily a blow by blow.

I will try to provide highlights & maybe more. We'll see. It's hard to blog much AND write stories that are due before the meeting is over, which may well be the case tonight.

Anything you can do would be great, Steve. Thank you!

Steve, can you post on the police positions that the council is supposed to be voting on tonight. I am curious if the council and mayor will go along with the new Lt. position being proposed. Thanks.

New police lieutenant? Check. I'll try. I suppose there's a story in that, too, but I've been so buried in politics that I have no idea what it is.

I think the police board created a new lieutenant position some months ago and the salary committee approved it too, according to my cloudy recollection.

Hi Steve,
I appreciate what you have been doing very much.
In a short period of time, it appears that you've developed a band of devoted blog readers ---

I'll admit that I'm surprised so many people are reading so much of this stuff. I think it's a revealing commentary on the lack of entertainment options in Bristol.
