Rimcoski calls for biweekly City Council meetings

City Councilor Mike Rimcoski said he plans to propose a change that would replace the once-a-month City Council sessions with biweekly meetings.
"We don't spend the time that we should" on issues that are important, the 1st District Republican said.
He said that as meetings drag into the night, officials get tired and less inclined to debate issues thoroughly before voting on them.
Particularly when there is a long agenda, Rimcoski said, it would far better to divide it up between two meetings instead of trying to tackle everything at once.

Am I understanding this correctly? Eight meetings a month? While I agree with Mike completely on the need for more than one Council meeting a month, eight seems to be a lot.I would certainly think at LEAST TWO a month would serve everyone better. As far as length is concerned, enforcing some semblance of decorum with those in attendance would be a good start.Open to some ideas on how to accomplish that.

Biweekly means every other week, or about twice a month.
Tim, you and Mike are on the same wavelength.

The definition of biweekly means "every two weeks."
In England, they call that a fortnight.
Bimonthly, for what it's worth, would mean every two months.

Come on let's be nice to Tim. Everyone gets confused sometimes and says/writes something stupid. Unfortunately for Tim he posted his name there as well.

How about a bi-sexual meeting?

Hello,

"Glad you are not running for anything". "...thick as a brick..."

Very helpful and hopeful comments.

A man who cares enough to solicit help to make sure he correctly comprehends a statement by a councilor regarding meeting frequency he doesn't quite get leads to very obvious condescending comments.

A DEFINITION:

Belittle someone for raising their hand to make sure communication is clear.

Question someone's competence and usefulness because they need an assist in making sure they truly understand a statement.

Impinge someone's dignity because they are willing to bare their ignorance, despite the threat of being vilified.

A WORD:

Small

A number of contributors to this Blog should be ashamed of themselves, and Tim Gamache is not one of them. Quite the contrary. Tim does whatever is within his given talents to try and make sure that every person who lives in this city is treated fairly, enjoys it and makes the most of it.

Tim is transparent, and although he may not acknowledge or be aware of all of his flaws, he doesn't pretend nor act as if he has none. He may be annoying at times, but he is very refreshing - he believes, he cares, he tries.

If there is anyone involved in this whole political season who deserves respect for how they have conducted themselves, it is Tim Gamache. I can only hope that his integrity and willingness to stand "naked" will rub off on some of the folks who contribute to this site as well as those who "will be running for anything".

Walk tall Tim, and be well,

John Cullen

Webster's New Explorer Encyclopedia Dictionary, Merriam-Webster 2006 edition defines
bi-weekly as follows:
adjective (1892)
1: ocucrring twice a week
2: occurring every two weeks : fortnightly

so it appears that everyone is correct and everyone is in agreement, now how do we make it happen?
