Mayor clashes with Rydingsward

Shortly after Mary Rydingsward, a school board candidate from the Working Families Party, finished speaking to the City Council about her opposition to 900-student schools, Mayor William Stortz declared that at last week's Board of Education meeting, nobody from the public showed up to speak.
Rydingsward said she took affront.
She said he deliberately raised the issue after she was done speaking to taint her words. She said the mayor also deliberately failed to mention that she and many others were at mayoral debate at City Hall at the time.
Rydingsward said the mayor's cold treatment showed "disrespect for women and people he opposes."
She walked out in anger.
The mayor ignored her.

What a drama queen. So is Mary!

Not defending Stortz, but what does this have to do with disrespecting women?

There were many people here upset with the mayor tonight.
But I suspect Rydingsward will explain her comments later. I know she reads this blog.

I guess, no I know that Rtdingsward has not been following what is going on
.
Stortz appointed MORE woman and minorities than anyone else.

Mary is upset because she did not get appointed to any boards, but anyone listening to her can see why.

Shame on you Mary.

From someone who was there ... Mary should be ashamed of herself for her less than professional behavior. It's appalling to me that she's running for public office and thinks that that behavior is going to bring leadership to the School Board.

Her butt should have been hauled out of the meeting.

"Working Families Party"

Sounds like some neo-marxist rhetoric.

How about hauling out Maureen Carter while you're at it? Actually, anyone who decides it's time to speak out of turn should be hauled out, i.e. Geladino and Blaschke. There is no need to continually speak while others are giving a presentation or are speaking. There's plenty of time to talk during public comment, which Ms. Carter took full advantage of. Why aren't these meetings under the watchful eye of a police officer so when people decide they want to be disruptive, for obvious political reasons, they can be promptly removed?

To anonymous @ 8:05 AM

Since you were at the meeting, and saw it live :

Do you feel the same way about Ken Johnson who is reported to have "stormed out" sometime later?

Would you apply the same standard?
Should he not also be "ashamed of himself" ?

I admire Stortz's patience.

By the way, why wasn't Mary at the BOE meeting? Isn't that what she is running for?

Seems like she has mispalced priorities.

Mary probably went to the Mayoral debate because she knew it would be on TV more often than the BOE. I think she likes being on TV.

Mary was out of line last night, however Stortz should have just shut up and left it alone.

Typical Stortz though he always has to ge the last word in.
