It turns out the Republicans and Democrats can get along, at least a little.
The two political parties are getting together to sponsor a mayoral debate at 7 p.m. on Oct. 24th at the Little League complex on Mix Street.

Will it be a REAL debate????
or will there be set questions for candidates to answer?
I would rather see the Candidates speak on their feet.....NOT with set questions and to see them interact with each other.
Again, in the past ten years or so, the only debates well attended by the voters, the only debates of substance and unknown questions, had the GBPOA, a fair, unbias, unpolitical organization, hosting it and calling out to the people of Bristol. When politicians call out, they get politicians. When nuts call out, they breed their own kind. No names mentioned. Get the GBPOA involved and it will be attended.
Isn't it funny how Art Ward has agreed to now FOUR public forums but wouldn't do one for the primary.
He didn't have the script.

I would recommend you attend this evening (6Pm - 1st Dist.,8PM Mayoral) at City Hall and see/hear for yourself.Then you can make your OWN assessment,yes?If you are unable to attend for any reason,Nutmeg will be airing ALL the forums at a time/date TBA.

While I don't believe it was biased,I also don't believe that it provided the voters with any information that they wouldn't have gotten anyway if a reporter presented the questions to each candidate and published it in the paper.

Having attended the forums as a republican, I can honestly say that they were not biased toward either party.
The Federal Hill Association should be thanked for providing the opportunity for the candidates to present their cases.
It is unfortunate that more folks did not attend from the public.
Hopefully more voters will attend the other opportunities that are presented to hear the candidates' views.
I don't believe it was biased at all. Only three of the questions were pre-determined. The rest were audience questions. How can that be biased?
How about hearing from the BOE? Steve, you need to start getting comments from the BOE. If anyone will get them to speak, it will be you. Perhaps you should do an article on who the candidates are and where they stand. I'm even sure who they are, and I myself would like to know even that. I think they feel immune to the process, because they've never been asked to state their positions in a public forum, but this is an unusual year with two schools being proposed. They should inform us of their stance on this and other educational issues.
