The $170.8 million budget was approved tonight with only two people voting against it.
Both city Councilors Craig Minor and Kevin McCauley opposed the budget, which freezes property taxes.
They said a small tax hike was necessary to make sure public works got the funding its needs to prevent city buildings, roads and other infrastructure from deteriorating.
More details to come, including the possible layoff of three public works employees if Local 1338 continues to refuse to make concessions on a scheduled wage hike.

My hat is off to Kevin and Craig: they know what has to be done to help make Bristol a better city!
Oh please! Kevin the firefigter wants to work 7 days a month, for the same pay - why do you think the fire union is in arbitration? Craig can't see past his ignorance so how is he going to make the city better?
Too bad that 7:41 can't offer any comments other than those which are anti-ward - boring.
Good riddance Minor!
They have no worries they both have two city incoms each .
There could have been many other positions that could have been eliminated or consolidated or savings made instead of public works.
Wonder when McCauley is going to start working for ALL of the taxpayers, not just the unions?
At least Kevin is not looking out for himself, like the mayor and few others!
11:51,
Kevin doesn't do ANYTHING by himself. Let's just say he needs guidance.
bye, bye Kevin and good riddance to Craig.

And Ward???
Looks like Minor and McCauley were on to somethnig.
A tax freeze means that Art gets reelected and that the taxpayers are in deep ---- next year!
