Block is running again

No surprise, of course, but city Councilor Cliff Block is running for reelection. He's a 1st District Democrat.

What a loss for Bristol.

Apparently the posters from 5:52pm and 8:28pm are using the litmus test of "if you get along with the mayor, you're in like Flynn, and if you're not, then you are a bad candidate and bad for Bristol. Well folks, the universe of people who get along with the mayor seems to shrink daily and I am a-thinking that we should be looking at the candidates records and not making these little annoying comments that do nothing but take up blog space. And Steve, what does "yippity skippity" add to the dialogue?

I like Cliff Block. I will vote for him again gladly. And he is not a city employee - big plus there, in a time when both parties don't seem to see that the general public is uncomfortable with a large number of public employees running the show.

Are the Republicans going to put up just one candidate again?

Apparently, the poster from 10:57pm doesn't think people are capable of independent thought. Some of us actually do make our own choices...quite unlike your Mr. Block. Just because he answers to a different master doesn't make him any less of a lap dog.

Seems that blockhead's only claim to fame is that he's not a city employee. Maybe we should be looking for a little more in a candidate?

Are we sure he's not Kenny Rogers just pretending to be Cliff Block. Lets hear him sing.

I have found Cliff to be thoughtful and well informed as Liason to the BOE. He takes the time to learn and understand the issues. Seems to have some common sense in my opinion. I think some of you have mis perceived him.

Rummer has it Ward is trying to get other people to run so Block wont get the endorsement.

He supported Zoppo so Ward is still mad.

Sorry Chris. I also know Mr. Block. It would seem that he NEEDS to spend a little more time to understand the issues. The only sense he has belongs to someone else...I think you may have him mis perceived.

Rummer has it?

Need I say more?

There could be far worse people that Cliff could have as advisors - Zoppo was one of the best policy people the city has seen in a longtime and if the mayor is really still holding grudges about something that happened two years ago, then that is really sad and pathetic.

11:41 should get their head out of their butt and give up on these failed attempts to create political havoc - the gop has the rights to that.

1:45 ~ Advisor? Yah, well, I guess that's a NICE way to sugarcoat it.

I'm not sure where you come up with the grudge thing though. The better man/person won. If anyone's got a grudge, it's gotta be Block and his "advisor," and that really is sad and pathetic.

I agree.

Zoppo was smart, on top of things, understood how the system worked, got others to work with her.
The ONLY thing that Ward had over her was that he schmoozed people and they ate it up.

Bristol weighs heavily on personality not on ability, especially teh democrats.

7:57 = and the gop weighs heavily on what - the absence of winners - or in your case, WHINERS?

Unfortunately, getting people to to work for her often involved a whip and a chair. Not quite as smart as you seem to think.

The GOP (leadership??) makes their decisions on who will let them keep their power and take care of their friends.

Don't forget Ward didn't work with the previous mayor or council either - seems somewhat of a pattern that can't exactly be blamed on Block, Zoppo or others. Maybe the mayor's office needs a mirror. I hear Michelob Ultra makes a fancy one that maybe the mayor could hang up.

But Zoppo got things done!

Seems like both parties do not like candiates with knowledge of the process and strong personalities.

Ergo, Bristol and its people are the losers.

strong personality? I guess that's a nice way to put it.
