If everthing goes according to plan -- and when does it? -- The Bristol Press will move into its new quarters on Main Street this weekend.
I have lots of conflicting emotions about it, but recognize the century-old building we're in now is set up for the industrial production of papers, which is no longer what we do. It's hard for a newsroom to hum in a largely empty building.
But still. It's kind of painful to pack up and move on, as we all know.

Bristol Press--moving ForWard
I thought the BP was moving to 225 N. Main St?
Best of luck to you all. Happy to still have the Press!
Move it to China.
The bristol press is like Valley Bank on its way out. This city cant support a good buisness.
THANKS FOR ALL THE GOOD YEARS.
Everything is leaving bristol soon we will only have drug dealers theMeth clinic and the shelters. Thanks to our leaders.
I drove by the new BP digs today. I guess it's official because the signs are in the windows. Maybe it's me, but I actually feel embarrassed, and almost ashamed, at the new location and size of the facility. I know the new owner talks a big game of dedication to the community, and I also realize the need to down size the operation and to reduce expenditures, but the new digs do not have the appearance of a huge committment to the venture. It sort of reminds me of the newspaper office in the movie "The Shipping News" in Iceland or Greenland. I am extremely happy the BP survived, but I am not very impressed with what I see so far. A little storefront on Main Street is not a huge risk or commitment to the community. The new owner can't possibly have plans for growth or expansion. It's sort of lame attempt.
Steve, I hope it all works out, and the Press expands so that we can get more coverage of Bristol.
On 6/26/09 at 12:26 PM, Concerned Conservative observed: Not as painful for a bush-league reporter to get another job though, huh?
Or as painful as having to suffer through CC's never-ending sanctimonious bull$h!t.
10:22 - such optimism, you probably feel that a tourniquet only delays the inevitable also.
THE NEW OWNER IS SORRY FOR MAKING THIS INVESTMENT. HE IS DEALING WITH ONE SORRY POLITICAL FORCE. NOT ONE EDUCATED PERSON IN THE GROUP.
Steve: Where are you?
