Letizia in reserve?

Something interesting is going on in the city treasurer's race.
The only announced candidate to replace retiring city Treasurer Patti Ewen is John Letizia, a Democrat with a solid accounting reputation and a long stint on the city's Board of Finance in his past.
But Letizia may not get his own party's backing Monday, according to many political insiders.
Instead, the Democrats are likely to turn to Bill Veits, another experienced hand.
If that happens, some say, the GOP will toss aside Mark Anderson, its nominated treasurer candidate, and name Letizia instead, a move that would bring extra heft to the Republican ticket.
Anderson is a party loyalist -- and former Press reporter -- who almost certainly has no thought of getting elected as treasurer.
But if the scenario spins out as some anticipate, it could get quite interesting.

I wonder if anyone on the Democratic Town Committee is going to ask Letizia if he plans to accept the Republican endorsement if rejected by the Dems?

anon: actually it's none of their business what Mr. Letizia will do if they reject him.
The Dums should just decide whether they want him on their ticket or not and take their chances after that.
I would guess if Veits is interested they'll go with him. I'm not sure if Veits and Letizia are friends or if they will be after this.

You either don't understand the endorsement process or you're a Letizia fan (or both). It is absolutely the DTC's business to know what his intentions are, because the job of the DTC is to get Democrats elected, just like it's the Republican Town Committee's job to get Republicans elected. The DTC members have the right to know before they vote for him if he's going to screw the party the way Lieberman screwed the party after he lost his primary. In other words they have the right to know if Letizia is a real democrat or just a DINO before they vote for him.

I'd like to know why you think I don't "understand" the process?

If they nominate him, he obviously won't be running as a Republican will he?

What is a DINO? Obviously you must be an ultra-liberal if you have a problem with a moderate/conservative Democrat.

Again what his intentions are if they chose NOT to nominate him is none of their business. What is their business is his behavior if they DO nominate him.

Again your logic is so simplistic, it's no wonder you need the government of bail you out of life. So if he says that he won't run as a Republican then the Dems will endorse him? And what if they don't (if he won't respond) and then he runs as a Republican? Will you try and sue him? What a joke you people are!

The response from the "anon" poster show the true colors of the Bristol Democrats. Bow down or be pushed out. Does one have to swear alligence to Chris Dodd (while being hooked up to a lie detector to be on the Democrat Town Committee as well?

Here's a few more questions for Letizia:
1) Did Clinton lie?
2) Was Chappaquidick just right wing conspirancy?
3) Who was the better President, Jimmy Carter or Abe Lincoln?
4) Who would you rather have dinner with; Hugo Chavez or President Bush?

Answers: If you said any of the following...
1. Yes
2. No
3. Lincoln
4. Bush

You are hearby banned from the Democrat ticket for the rest of your life.
