Democratic strategy - Wright makes a big mess with the tax increase and ESPN, therefore NEEDS to be part of something that passes. Yawn...he still is Mr Wrong to me.

Big deal. This is like when it's the end of a blowout basketball game and the winning team puts in their worst player and tries to let him score a basket by setting him up with an easy shot.

Will this bill lower my state income tax or my property tax? Will this bill help my employer hire more people? Will this bill keep all the kids that just graduated State colleges to stay in CT?

Unlike the Republicans who destroy their own.

Lesson for them to learn.

The local Republicans are going after a single freshman legislator who has no clout at all, and are ignoring Mayor Ward who has more of an impact on them tax wise, legislation wise an politically. Doesn't make much sense to me.

No wonder they are continual losers!

Republicans are too honest to pull these political stunts.

May we have some information regarding this bill or is the point of this story just to show Rep. Wright actually doing something?

Steve Collins said...

That's the complete press release. I don't see that it's worth doing a story on it.

Do your own research, Cuckoo Conservative.

The State of Connecticut website has plenty of information on Mr. Wright's bill.

Do something productive for a change!

This comment is just about the legislature, not Chris' bill.
H.B 6435 “An Act Concerning Election Day Procedures and Presidential Procedures” passed in the State House yesterday with a vote of 81-65. This bill will allow people to register and to vote on Election Day. This will further compromise the voting process in that there will not be time for the registrar to check the registration for validity, and further opens the door for voter fraud. This bill will now move to the Senate for consideration.

As a person working here in the legislature for this session and one who watches and observes the debates on these bills, I have become quite cynical about the whole process. The debate in the house on this bill went from around noon until 7:45 when the vote was taken. If the best interests of the people of the State of Connecticut are supposed to be considered by our elected officials, can you tell me who cares about this bill other than politicians who are hoping the opportunity for fraud will better their chances of getting elected. We, the taxpayers, are paying 151 House Representatives $32,500 each; and 36 Senators $33,500 each, plus bonuses for leadership and mileage reimbursements. If we total just the base pay of these representatives it comes out to $6,113,500 per session. Is that unbelievable? Again, this is just base pay; the majority of these legislators are party leaders and earn much more.

This is just one of the thousands of bills that are being debated and passed up here this session. I wonder how the voting public would feel if they really knew what goes on here?

Hey CC you using the company computer or your blackberry on company time ?

Dear Capital Watchdog,

Thanks for supplying actual facts, as opposed to what many of the clowns here do. It's funny, you make a statement, then one of the clowns chips in and says "Oh yeah? why don't you give us some examples!" You do what they request and then all of a sudden, they are awfully silent - meandering away with their little tail (emphasis on little) between their legs.

Good job Dawg!

Election Day another unfunded state mandate. Bet Colapietro will vote for it.

After all, he has no clue what an unfundd state mandate is, just ask Mayor Ward.

I would hope the public looked at the final product rather than some procedural vote before making rash judgements on Chris Wright. I believe the ESPN tax breaks will be on the final budget documents. Primarily because of the work of Chris, Frank Nicastro, Betty Boukus and Tom Colopietro(the correct spelling escapes me at this time).

I think in order to preserve some type of journalistic integrity here Steve Collins should identify which story is merely a re-print of a press release for a political entity (such as this fluff-story) or something that Collins or another member of the Bristol Press writes.

In regards to this bill, the first two posters are right. This is just a politcal move, not a substantial bill. Do carriers actually have stipulations in their contracts negating themselves from negligent or malicious damage to something they carry? That seems somewhat ridiculous. Then again the candidacy of Wright is ridiculous in itself. What this bil is, is garbage just like most of my detractors here

CC, As I did on this post and many others, I always say right at the beginning that this is a press release from whoever it is from. I also put any press releases or other writing from non-Press staff in italics, as I did on this. I'm really kind of shocked that you haven't noticed that, since you read these things fairly closely.
Do you have any other ideas on how I can distinguish my copy from a press release that I slap up on here? I don't want people to be confused.

Concerned Constructive Conservative said...

I didn't notice your note on the top. Very good, did you just add that (very easy to do) or did I miss it?

Whatever the case I actually don't read your postings too carefully for fear of an increased chance of heartburn and/or nausea.

Terry Knock it off with the procedural vote crap.

Your either for it or againist it.

Chris Wright deserves no applause for his vote. Maybe for the fact that he woke up but not for voting to add additional taxes to our largest taxpayer.
And you want to be on the Council.

God help us

Let's take a poll. What do the readers of this blog think? Was Cuckoo Conservative born a JERK or did he develop his loathsome personality over time?

1. Born a JERK
2. Developed over time

Oh gee, that's really funny. There's no poll needed for you. I'm sure you were born a moron.

Actually, this folly called local government and the imbeciles obsessed with it don't bother me that much. I just merely laugh as I laugh at clowns or as I am by animal shows.

But then I see my tax bill and I cry...perhaps like a condemned prisoner.

I think CC was born a jerk and has developed into a very unhappy person. It's really sad.

Definitely #1, but then #2 is also a distinct possibility.

What a BIG BOY.

What's next? I hope its that he will go fly a kite in some faraway land.

Windbag Junior needs to go.

I just want to clarify that the information I shared is all available to the public on the Connecticut General Assembly website. Most people outside of the legislature don't have the time or motivation to look this information up, but it is all there. As well as the ability to tune into the debates taking place in the chambers.

What I have come to understand is that there are clearly two positions and one may not be totally right or wrong, but when you have such an "out of balance" legislature, all of these decisions are leaning way to the liberal side. This will not benefit the citizens in the long run.

How cute that the state Democrats gave little Chrissy Wright a legislative bill to play with.

Mike Riley said...

For the record, the bill which Representative Wright brought out is very important to many Connecticut truckers. It prohibits shippers from transferring liability for their mistakes or misdeeds to a motor carrier as a condition of a transportation contract. This bill was requested by the Connecticut trucking industry, through the Motor Transport Association of Connecticut. Representative Wright did an excellent job explaining the bill and responding to questions from the Republican leader. He was well prepared and displayed poise and familiarity with the parliamentary procedures of the House. We were honored to have had Representative Wright bring out our bill, as his first. Thanks Bristol for sending us a good guy.

Michael J. Riley, President, Motor Transport Association of Connecticut.

Has Capitol watchdog looked at mama Rells budget yet?
Has all that vast experience up there made it so that even a pro like the watchdog could see its BS,
Could she see that half of her cuts couldnt be done because mama signed off on a SEBAC agreement worth 700 million but has job security language which prevents half of what she asked for.
Does the good watchdog realize that those USELESS commissions and agencys were actually created by a request from the federal gov. as a conduit to get fed dollars to the state and if eliminated the state will lose between 400 and 450 million per year.
Did she also in her great wisdom see that some of the other cuts would make CT ineligible for over ONE BILLION dollars from the stimulus package.
So watchdog you seem to be keeping quite the eye on the Dems and Chris Wright in particular but you seem to be having trouble seeing mama is dropping the ball and is playing BS politics with taxpayers.
I bet you never thought Rowland was a crook either.
Oh by the way while some of us were working thru the last few days of 15 our sessions you seem to have no problem stealing taxpayer dollars by bloging on state time and equipement.
YOU SHOULD BE FIRED.

Where do you get this 40 million people moving into CT in 2004/2005 alone? That is about 10 percent of the whole population in the US. I wonder where you get your "facts" ano Student.
