Ward plans to nominate Krawiecki

Mayor Art Ward said Friday he intends to ask the City Council to endorse his selection of Edward Krawiecki, Jr as an assistant city attorney.
Ward said he'll advertise the open city attorney position and another assistant city attorney slot, but in the meantime the legal office needs some help so he's going to press ahead with Krawiecki's nomination.
Councilors had informally agreed to back Krawiecki for the part-time post as part of a package deal that filled the city attorney post, too. But when that fell apart, it wasn't clear what would happen next.
Now we know: Ward's going to ask the Democrat-dominated council to vote for the Republican lawyer who last served as Mayor William Stortz's city attorney.
It's unclear whether the council will go along, but Ward acknowledged that it might not.

I am sure that if Krawiecki is rejected, Ward will use that as the reason his administration has been a failure.

John Bailey said " never back anyone into a corner" .

Well Ward is doing just hat.

It is interesting thta Krawiecki, a lifelong Republican, would turn his back on the Republicans and eliminate any chance the Republicans would have to defeat Ward in November.

Krawiecki knows he can control Ward: guess the chance to grab power was too attractive, wasn't it Ed?

that council should support the mayor to show that clift and steeg screwed up.

Watch your back Art!!!

Thats a foot in the door for Ellen!

Anonymous said...

Lets see if the DEMS can put the city first - it seems one of them at least is trying!

Anonymous said...

Ellen will never let her puppets vote for Krawiecki. She will have McCauley, Block and Minor vote no!

Anonymous said...

Both parties are dysfunctional.

Anonymous said...

Now it all starts to make sense.

Krawiecki talked Johnson out of running, convinced him he couldn't win.

Now Krawiecki gets a key power position, as a reward.

Politics is dirty!!

if ed was acceptable by the city council last week, why wouldn't he be acceptable this week?

I don't see this as a blow to the Bristol GOP since the Bristol GOP is an almost insignificant entity.

If Ward was putting the city first, he would have named someone else to the vacant assistant counsel position almost 2 years ago instead of stubbornly saying Krawiecki or nobody! The council was open to almost anyone except Krawecki, but Ward said my way or the highway. Great leadership Mr. Ward!

Keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer?

Anonymous said...

Ed will do anything for power

Anonymous said...

Looks like Ward is putting the city first. He found the most suitable candidate for the position. Hopefully, certain city council folks will stop playing games and get the job done. Great leadship Mr. Ward!

Moving Bristol BACK-WARD

Anonymous said...

Ward is so two-faced its unreal.

Anonymous said...

Nicastro will probably be the swing vote: he likes to think he is the King Maker.

Didn't he and Krawiecki stick it to Stortz on the Ocean State issue a few years ago?

Anonymous said...

I'm betting on Frank: he will outsmart Ward any day of the week.

Anonymous said...

Be careful what you say about Ward: by default he will be mayor again in November.

Remember, he owes the Republicans for getting him in in 2007, and will owe them again in 2009.

I can't believe the Arty contingency is out in force, once again, attempting to make our already paranoid mayor even more paranoid and giving perceptions that are untrue. Minor, McCauley and Block all have their own opinions and will vote for what THEY believe is right ... not someone who has been out of the political loop for two years. Let's have some proof here that Ms. Zoppo is calling the shots, because obviously whoever wrote that comment is way off base! By the way, the last time I looked I didn't see that Ms. Zoppo was running for office. In fact, she's way too busy running the Family Center to be bothered with all the stupidity and backstabbing that goes on at city hall. That's what I call a smart woman!

I don't care who is on corporation council as long as that person can get the job done. It's not about the GOP of the Dems or anyone else. It's about moving the city agenda along and keeping this city legally sound. Enough of the politics! I can tell you whoever ends up with that job will be inundated beyond their wildest nightmares!

Anonymous said...

Two years later and Art Ward and his cronies are still insecure about Zoppo and banging her on the blog. It would actually be pretty funny if it were not so pathetic on his part.

Anonymous said...

is the mayor even communicating with his council or is he just doing the fist pounding crap? Cuz, that hasn't been working so great for him! :-O

Anonymous said...

In the Republican group (they don't have a party), it is every man for himself.

Who cares about working together, "as long as I get mine".

9:13, I'm sure you are just the very best judge of character, criticizing and insulting a community leader anonymously. Yep, you're a genuine paragon of virtue...dork! LMAO!!!

"Looks like Ward is putting the city first. He found the most suitable candidate for the position. Hopefully, certain city council folks will stop playing games and get the job done. Great leadship Mr. Ward!"

What "found"? He's had Krawiecki in his back pocket for years, and he did NOTHING to see who else is available. This has nothing to do with what's best for Bristol - it's all about King Arthur getting what he wants. He picked the wrong fight this time.

First of all,if everyone on the council, including our mayor, was really for the city ,none of these comments would have to be posted.
Sadly, everything comes down to whatever party is in "control".
I believe the mayor and everyone on the council should put "party" aside and think of the citizens, period.
Too many things are coming undone in our city, including our "leaders".
Work TOGETHER and help our city!

Anonymous said...

Talk about "lack of faith" in your council members, they can think for themselves.
Don't forget you all voted for them for a reason, and I'm confident the reason wasn't because you think they're "puppets".

Anonymous said...

Will the real Art ward stand up!

Or has he???

Anonymous said...

Why did Ward put Dean's name out there?
Did he talk with him first?
I don't think that Dean would set the mayor up, but I don't know about Ward.

"Minor, McCauley and Block all have their own opinions and will vote for what THEY believe is right"

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ya, right. If you believe that, I've got a bridge I want to sell you! LMAO!!!

Poster 10:41

Or I mean McCauley, Did Zoppo tell you what to write? You know, Kind of like scripted!

Anonymous said...

Any update on the negotiations??

Or will continue to have an unbalanced budget?

Steve Collins said...

1:46 -- The mayor did not mention anyone's names to me until after I'd written about them. I heard the details from others.

You know...maybe the time has finally arrived. It is really time to clean house at City Hall. We need intelligence not ignorance. Bristol is faced with many major projects and issues and to not have legal representation because of the most blantant partisan politics is a sure sign that the democrat power machine cares only about one thing..and it is not the tax payers or the good of the city.

They pander to the unions, by giving them whatever they want, they fight among themselves like siblings in a dysfunctional family and we the taxpayor electorate get hosed.

COME ON REPUBLICANS ....PUT UP SOME GOOD CANDIDTES SO WE CAN GET RID OF THESE BOZOs

Anonymous said...

3:41

How can you expect the Republicans to field a viable slate?
One of their key people, in the past, will soon be a Ward confidant.

Anonymous said...

What republicans are going to be laid off by Ward?

Politics at its worst!

Anonymous said...

3:41 - We have republicans who sneak around hurling insults, name call and disrespect their peers, stomp their feet and throw full blown temper tantrums...we've even got one fool who calls himself Mad Dog...and you think our current leaders are Bozos??? ROTFLMAO!!!!

dope said...

dream on 3:41 - the tooth fairy is alive and well in Hootersville for all of you opied, or is it opium , fiends.

Anonymous said...

What hat will Krawiecki wear: Mayors Aide or Republican behind the scenes mover and shaker?

Anonymous said...

You woukdnt need all these lawyers if you guys knew what you were doing.

Anonymous said...

Come on now... we have two major schools about to become"shovel ready" (hidious Obama term), that will require hundreds of hours to read thousands of pages of construction contracts, loaded with union fat, we have a major tax assessment case headed for the courts and the BOZO dumocrates are playing politics. Skunk the bozos right out of office. They are just as bad as the dumocrtas in Hartford.

Anonymous said...

How come the lawyers budget is going up 25%??????

Anonymous said...

And you, Mr. June 1, 2009 1:59 PM, obviously don't think for yourself either since you insist on believing that someone else tells them how to vote. Why not think for yourself and look at their voting record?

Anonymous said...

All you who say the council should cut out the partisan politics and just appoint someone: the sordid little fact is that Clift wouldn't have quit if Ward had acted like a leader instead of a spoiled brat and hired another assistant corporation counsel over a year ago. It's his petulant, childish behavior that brought this on.

Ward stonewalled the council for over a year, so now they're stonewalling him. Isn't turnaround fair play?

Anonymous said...

Ya shes busy running the Family Center 10:41. And busy closing down the pool there as well. If they can't afford to fix it, then she could at least try to organize a fund raiser. I mean it's only going to be Summer and 90 degrees outside. What possibly could our kids want a pool for, right? If you ask me, she runs the Family Center like she would run the City. Glad she didn't and never will, get my vote.

Anonymous said...

Krawiecki should be in City Hall and Zoppo should be out of the Family Center. He is as smart as they come, and she never should have closed that pool.

Anonymous said...

Whatever is good for Ed.

Anonymous said...

"the sordid little fact is..."

the REAL sordid little fact is that games are being played while Bristol suffers. It's time for some of those puppets on the city council to cut the strings.

Anonymous said...

And it's time for you conspiracy-theorists to go back on your medication. Art is screwing up all by himself. He doesn't have and he doesn't need someone in the shadows pointing out his failures to the rest of the city council.

Anonymous said...

Betcha Barnes is happy!

Anonymous said...

And if you're unable to see the puppet show and games played by a few certain individuals, then it's time for you to lower your medication dosage...I think you're trippin!

Anonymous said...

Zoppo needs to find something to do where she can't cause so much damage.

Anonymous said...

How would Chris Wright vote?

Anonymous said...

8:44
I say the same thing about Ward.

Anonymous said...

If Krawiecki wants to be the city lawyer, all he has to do is work to get a Republican elected mayor.

Anonymous said...

Krawiecki is the Republican mayoral candidates campaign manager.

Should be interesting if he gets appointed!

Anonymous said...

Whay Candidate??

Anonymous said...

Nicastro Flip Flopped to, as is said, protect his "friend", Atty Baldwin.

Same old story in City Hall, isn't it?
