Colapietro takes a poke at Waterbury paper

When state Sen. Tom Colapietro, a Bristol Democrat, proposed the idea of a super lottery to raise some extra money for a cash-strapped Connecticut, critics pounded him.
The Waterbury Republican-American, in particular, lashed into the 31st District senator for turning to gambling, a traditional vice, to secure some funds to close a growing budget hole.
Now Gov. Jodi Rell is pushing Keno, a Bingo-like electronic gambling game that she says might bring in $60 million to state coffers.
Colapietro said he wonders if the critics will pound her as they did him.
"Why isn't the Waterbury rag crucifying her the way they did to me?" Colapietro said. "How come I got crucified and she doen't?"
He said that his plan wasn't a bad idea and Rell's may be fine as well. He said he doesn't gamble, but figures that if those who do can help raise some cash to keep the state budget balanced, why not pursue it?
To be fair to the editors in Waterbury, Rell only proposed the Keno game yesterday. They might yet "crucify" her in an editorial.

Way to go Colapietro. You just keep on showing that you have no class.

sniffle, sniffle said...

I'll bet that you republican naysayers are so despondent about being losers that you sit by the blog site waiting to jump on anyone who has experienced the elusive goal that you can't achieve - elective office - unfold your box of kleenex and blow, blow, blow.

My old friend Bart Barnes advised against getting a peeing match with people who buy ink by the barrel. Yet Tommy carries on, supporting every bill that will hurt business, increase health care costs or further regulate our lives.

Our Governor on the other hand is trying to avoid tax increases that will shutter businesses, cost jobs and keep Connecticut competitive.

The (Waterbury) Republican American may notice that Tommy proposed his big lottery in different economic times and for different reasons. They may also recognize that Rell is trying to save the state economy while Tommy is happy to continue to rail against “Da man.”

Governor Rell has saved jobs in Connecticut unlike Tommy who nearly single handedly brought down new Departure as a union thug.

You go ahead and take on the Republican American, Tommy. Your thugs will support and reelect you.

Eventually when the last car leaves Connecticut you can shut the lights off… just like you did at New Departure.

Hey TOm..Nevermind the Waterbury Paper, Have you found out what an unfunded State Manade was, yet?

Steve, How come you haven't printed that he has no clue what an unfunded state mandate is after decades as a State Senator?

5:08 Boy are you all wet. You should try the truth once in a while.I guess he had more guts than Barnes and you of coarse.

I think it's time for Tom to retire. How about it? If he won't go on his own we need to oust him with our votes.

Be polite, please. I will delete posts that are too mean-spirited.Ha Ha Ha Ha !!!!Only kidding right !

Mayor Ward knows that his famous Senator doesn't know what an unfunded mandate is b/c he asked the question.

How come everytime time you bring up one of Tommy C.'s many shortcommings you are branded a "hatemonger?"

Tommy is your wife still sitting home crying b/c people know the real you and your idiotic votes?

If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen, like he other poster said, Don't flip your wig......

At your age its not worth it.

Just continue doing what you do best, stabding up for the leaders of your liberal Democratic party and not the people who elected you.

IF you really cared about the people of CT the crooks that sit in your caucus, like the Forger Sen. Crisco and double billing Tom Gaffey would have been removed by now.
The hell with Good Gvernment , huh Tom
