Live blogging tonight... maybe

I have every intention of being at the Federal Hill Association's forums starting at 6 p.m. tonight for the 2nd and 3rd district City Council candidates. If everything works out, I'll post some items live from the ever-so-exciting council chambers at City Hall.
I can't promise that I can do it, but if you have questions to pose the candidates, feel free to post them here. I'll try to ask at least some of them when I have a chance.

I'd like to know what the candidates will do to rein in the costs of city workers' benefits which put a huge burden on the taxpayers who typically enjoy benefits far less generous.

Let's see if they have the guts to do the right thing.

Suggest that you check the contract with BPSA that the mayor negotiated and the council approved.

Will you work to support those that face up to the unions?

I'm interested if the candidates feel if the west end needs to be reconstructed. Ellen Zoppo hinted about this in the past, citing crime in the area, despite the recent influx of small business.

I'm really interested... if "ABOUT 60 people attended at least a PORTION of the forums," (few minutes?) Monday night (with more a few forums lasting 1 1/2 HOURS each), how many are attending THIS forum tonight and how long is it expected to run while attendees fall asleep and leave? Why 3-4 "forums" by Federal Hill?? Are there no other voters in Bristol? Do they dare wonder why the only attendees are in local politics? Why didn't they have the GBPOA run a Mayoral Debate as in the past when the room filled over with voters from all around the city in all walks of life? The candidates were agreeable and yet it all turned into "Federal Hill Forums," instead. Let the GBPOA handle the job that VOTERS want to see! Not arranged by the Federal Hill team with questions given to the candidates. Make it a REAL debate to see what each is really about and how they can react to questions on the spot (as in real life) instead of with a team to coach and rehearse answers. We always were interested in attending the other debates hosted by GBPOA, have refreshments afterward and mingle with the candidates before going home and to breakfast to discuss opinions on each. GBPOA encourages communication - not shoving what they want down our throats.

Why bog people down with long winded forums? We work and 3-5 hours at a forum just isn't doable and take care of the kids.

Prioritize. Get a debate with mayor candidates for an hour or so like the ones before by the landlord group that let no one see the questions first. Let locals know when it is on so the majority of Bristol people can hear it.

Let GBPOA build it - and they will come.

GBPOA? No way! It's the absentee landlords that got us into this mess with sec. 8 tenancy running rampant with many uncaring tenants in the West End and Fed Hill and they want to run a debate? I wouldn't put it past the GBPOA to put plants in the audience to attack anyone who wants code enforcement and will tear them to pieces. They think the Fed Hill Assoc. is biased? Get real! I've seen the GBPOA in action and it's not pretty. Talk about bias. Who let the wolf into the hen house?
