"I Hate Bristol, CT"

Somebody on Facebook started an "I Hate Bristol, CT" page on Sunday. It already has 289 fans, mostly teenagers who live in Bristol.

Maybe we could start an "I hate teenagers" page on Facebook?

There is an "I Hate Teenagers" group on Facebook with 391 members. In a couple of days, I think the Bristol-hating page will have more fans Does that mean more people hate Bristol than teenagers?

This is a good place for all the whiners to go. Enjoy yourselves!

Just sent out 300 requests to join the fan page. Over 300 in 5 minutes........ If all you crab apples on here moan all day why not on facebook ?????? You getting a bit of your own medicine.

Nah Steve, I think it means that most adults are too mature to bother with that kind of stupidity...except for some of the overgrown children on this blog that is.

hello... most teenagers hate living in bristol, or at least they say they do. its a common complaint, and probably has more to do with the fact that they're teenagers and want to go somewhere exciting and get out from under their respective parents' thumbs.

Anonymous said...

No imagination. Probably the same group that hates school and work.

While we're at it, why not start an "I hate Facebook" page?

very inmature teenagers saying very inmature comments. if you dislike where you live then please by all means, MOVE.

It's picking up a new fan every 15 minutes, on average. It's up to 315 now.

Ha! Most people hate their hometown when they're teenagers, but it's only recently that they would have an outlet like this on which to showcase it. Probably every kid in town will eventually join and it doesn't mean anything except that these kids are all very, very cool.

How about an "I hate people who hate Bristol" page?

Anonymous said...

Tell all the kids to move. Who needs kids around anyway. They cost us the most in taxes and give us nothing in return. Bristol will be better off as a city without them.

So whats to like about bristol. Besides the fact most adult homeowners want out.

Really laughing outloud here! When I saw the headline on Bristolct.com, I just had to open it. First off, don't tell the said teenagers to move away. Logical yes, but what is NOT logical is this phenomenon that my husband and I witnessed while living in Bristol for 7+ years that we are absolutley flummoxed about - people NEVER leave Bristol (but continue to complain about it incessantly) and if they do for whatever reason (job, college, military service), THEY COME BACK and not just that, but they buy homes and raise famillies in the very place they "hate"! Crazy! So don't scoot the teenagers away, because from what I have observed, they are your next generation of taxpayers! I am FAR from being a teenager (35 to be exact), but I hated living in Bristol, too, after living in Orange County, CA for over 20 years (grew up there), so I DID leave. Moved to Scottsdale, AZ last November and my decision is daily confirmed as the right one when I check out the Bristol Press online each day. Also, gotta love living in a really nice area where there is no graffiti ANYWHERE, no shopping carts ammassed in people's front yards, and most of all, NO COMPLAINING about the very people the town keeps electing into office term after term ad nauseum!

What can be more important to an individual than how he or she feels about the place they live?

Hopefully, this outpouring of angst will be translated into some positive action and commitment to improving the space which we all share.

Looking foward to seeing more "place improving" community activists and organizers arise from this group.

The first step appears to be underway ---- acknowlegement of and identification of condition.

The second step --- becoming "empowered", translation of discontent into positive actions,
???????????????

As a teenager I "hated" Bristol as well. There was nothing to do, no movies, skate park, or something in the winter to do. So yes i couldn't wait to get out. I left after graduating and guess what...I'M BACK! Raising a family & paying taxes. I don't mind it all that much...but after seeing how Bristol wants to spend $2M on a facelift rather than fixing streets, more police to get rid of these drugs dealers and such...I'm thinking of starting an "I hate Bristol" for adults :)
Let them vent...if you look, some say they hate Bristol for the crime and drugs (not such a bad reason).

Dude, what do you think this blog is? :p

Not much to like about Bristol any more. The town is dirty .Town is filled with overpaid workers who dont care. Police only care about overtime. More drug dealers in bristol then anywere around . Drug deals going on in front of the court house everyday. The leadership cant make decisions to make cuts because there all friends.Just in city hall you could make cuts and save more than a million dollars a year. THEN PUBLIC WORKS LOT OF FAT AND WASTE THERE. Police dept real top heavy the school board is out of controll we need to save bristol but it wont happen doing nothing.

Hey Steve

If Facebook was around in the 30's when you were a kid there would have been a hate group for Bristol then also.

Anonymous said...

This should be a perfect blog for these hate mongers on here!

Anonymous said...

WOW !!!!!!

There IS hope for Bristols' future after all .

Anonymous said...

11:37 there is hope for bristol if we put real people in office that have a backround in buisness. Or bristol will be one big shit house.

There is a picture of Jennifer Norton, from Bristol,on My Space, under the title gothic beauty. Is this the girlfriend of that murderer Joshua Kamisarjevsky and mother of his daughter. Poor girl. How do you go through life with a father like that. Bad genes for sure.

Well if you have only lived in Bristol "7+ years" (as "anonymous" said) then I cannot believe you have the nerve to think you can comment on the place. I have lived here 30 years, being 19 when I arrived. I absolutely worshipped the place for the first ten years. Everybody I knew ( a LOT of people) hated it. I couldnt understand, but one by one...contrary to what"anonymous" asserted...they all left. By which time I had plans to leave myself. Now, irony is such, Im too old and too stuick and I finally get-it: I really loathe this place with a vengeance. If I had the option Id go.

Why? Its complicated. Its subtle too. You wont discover what is so objectionable about this place until you have lived here at least fifteen years. Seven years? Dont make me laugh.

The strange thing is it sucks people in. In some ways its a bit like "The Village" in "The Prisoner". Oh so qauint...why Clifton even LOOKS like The Village...but like The Village it has something putrid in the void where its heart should be.
