Colapietro says he won't bend on Sunday liquor sales

Though the pressure to drop Connecticut’s ban on Sunday sales of beer, wine and liquor is growing, the state senator who has blocked its repeal for years is determined to hold the line for as long as he can.
“If you can’t satisfy your quench for alcohol on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday and you need it on Sunday, then you need help,” said state Sen. Tom Colapietro, a Bristol Democrat.
Colapietro, co-chairman of the legislative committee that has jurisdiction over liquor sales, said allowing Sunday sales would neither generate more revenue for the state nor create more jobs. Click here for the rest of the story.

Politicians have no right to restrict a business that is already selling this product 6 days a week. Not to mention the State is already allowing restaurants,Casinos and Bars to sell liquor on Sundays already. I guess the question that needs to be answered Mr.Colapietro is what is the difference between the local bar that stays open on a Sundays v's the local package store that could be open? Please think very carefully on how you answer this question.

Get drunk on Saturday ya drunk. Politicians do have a right to protect a small business no matter what they sell.

There are package stores that stay open past 8 PM now...at the owner's descretion. Let them have the same descreation to open or not on Sunday's.

Colopietro has clearly demonstrated, AGAIN, how out dated he is. Time to get rid of him and the Sunday Blue Law restricting free trade.

I guess the Package Stores that want to stay in business aren't BIG enough for you ! You don't need Tom to answer that for you.

Aw, come on Tom. Not everybody who is looking to purchase alcohol on Sunday has a thirst for alcohol that needs quenching. Sometimes we have unexpected company or need a last minute gift for a housewarming or a birthday.

It should be up to the individual store owners whether or not they want to be open on Sunday, NOT the government.

Hes not smart enough to anawer you. Hes just another bristol politican with no education wor5king for the unions only.

Why not sell liquor 24/7????

More Tax revenue! Go for it!

Bars can be open on Sunday, clubs can be open on Sunday, restaurants can be open on Sunday - what part of this practice escapes you senator?

In other words ......drink more ?

You jerks are doing what for the community ? Oh I forgot "Moan" and name call.

Additional hours will probably not bring in much more revenue, certainly not the equivalent of one extra days sale per week.

It certainly will drive some some operators out of business, and lead to more inconvenience in buying: there will be fewer neighborhood package stores, more 7-11 types will apply for licenses, which is not a good thing dud to the over natureof their clientle.

The Way Mr. Colapietro Is So "Hotheaded" About Not Having Package Stores Open on Sunday...(Sounds Fishy) To Me...
I'm Wondering(Not Sure)If Mr. Colapietro Was Paid(On His Last Compaign) By Lobbyists or Certain Package Stores To "Kill It", and Not Give Us Taxpayers A Voice That Continues To Go On Mr. Colapietro's Deaf Ears...Does Anyone Know?

Colopetro is piad, at least, by union votes. I wonder if card carrying unionites get discounts at certain packys! Show your card get 15% of your six pack! 20% of your pint.
