Bruce Suchinski? Are you joking?
One must be disappointed with Kate Matthews. She's turned into a lap-dog for the old, local yokel union-hack Democrat stooges.
Matthews is a stooge herself, just another pawn. But perhaps these moves will propel her to the State House where she can do some real damage to people's personal freedom?
Matthews = does what she's told...by Ellen Zoppo and Mayra Sampson.
NOT ONE WOMAN!!!
Way to go Art!
So you can have a criminal record and be on the charter revision panel. What is Matthews smokin?
Five Democrats and Two Republicans. Art another blunder Ward. Does he not have to follow the State Mandate.
Bruce Suchinski? The Bristol Democrat Party never learns. They are ruled by union hacks. Kate Matthews is a disappointment, I thought she would be different and stand up to the good old boys, but she is nothing but an opprrtunist and she obviously thinks being nice to Bruce Suchinski who is buddy buddy with Zoppo and others will help her get to the state House.
Its too bad Matthews the lawyer picked Bruce Suchinski for Charter Revision, here's a guy who previously got arrested on serious charges, is this the best the Democrat Party can do?
According to the Nov. 2007 Hartford Advocate, "Bruce Suchinski lived the American dream. Sort of. According to media reports, the 57-year-old Bristol resident quit his job as a state marshal four years ago, but figured out a way to keep getting paid for it. According to media reports, while Suchinski handed over his resignation in 2004, police say, he never stopped collecting money for court-ordered debts. Reports say he never actually paid the debts, and instead allegedly accrued a not-entirely-insignificant sum of $6,000. He was hit with second-degree larceny, impersonation and other charges in New Britain on Friday, Nov. 2, and could possibly be sentenced to a decade in prison. " Did Suchinski's connections help him squirm out of the charges just like other previously arrested Democrat politicians like Art Ward and Tom Ragiani who got caught for DUI many years ago?
May he (or she) who has not sinned cast the first stone.
Bruce has both paid his dues and his debt to society. If the courts are satisfied then so should we be. Several of these other people have interesting professional and personal issues as well. I am sure they would not want this to become a character persecution. Let's judge them on the quality of ideas and work the committee brings forward.
And the last time I checked Myra and Ellen weren't comparing notes over anything.
Nice one Mayor! No women!
Said it then and I'll say it again: We should have voted for DC. We sincerely hope he runs again.
I'll reiterate what's been said twice here already.
No Women????
This is a joke.
Suchinski's presence on this panel is a disgrace. If he had any remorse for what he did, he'd step down. His participation makes the entire process a shame. To bad, there are some good people on the committee.
Who cares if there's no women on the board, there's no blacks, Hispanics, or Asians either. As long as they do their job for what is best for the city that's all that counts.
Ward is taking the city BACKward when it comes to diversity!
Amen 7:29 AM. If Kate Matthews and Ellen Zoppo are examples of what women can do for Bristol...we're much better off with men.
oh yeah and the men have done what so far?
surprised that matthews didn't put a woman on.
best part of bruce being on is that his presence gives automatic credibility to everyone else serving on the board - what a friggi-ng loser.
11:40AM THERE ARE OTHER BOARDS AND COMMITTEES IN THIS CITY THAT WOMEN SIT ON AND THEY ARE DOING A GREAT JOB - SO LAY OFF THE WOMEN BASHING!
11:40
Same goes for Ward, Cockayne and a few others, all males.
Timmy LOL You must be talking to these pea brained Republicans on here.You.re not going to insult them because they are too stupid ! But you're right.
Gamache:
Did you miss this about Suchinski?
"He was hit with second-degree larceny, impersonation and other charges in New Britain on Friday, Nov. 2, and could possibly be sentenced to a decade in prison."
And you think he's a good nomination to the charter revision committee? What other excuse would you give for this disgraceful choice?
By the way Gamache do you do anything but call people cowards and suck up to the people in power?
Gamache is right. Unfortunately the frustration of these people on this blog reflects the ineptitude and worthlessness of the opposition party (the Bristol GOP).
Where are those idiots (the Bristol GOP, namely in Matthew's
3rd District) on this? Where is their press release and stand on this. Perhaps they're too worried about sucking up to Art Ward so they can get appointed to things like the Finance Board?
The quote from the Advocate (a Democrat leaning, left-wing publications no less) is clear. This guy is BAD NEWS. If you're so righteous Gamache, why don't you worry about important things like this not so great guy getting appointed to important things like this?

Take This Job and Shove it
Assuming the allegations are true, Bruce Suchinski lived the American dream. Sort of. According to media reports, the 57-year-old Bristol resident quit his job as a state marshal four years ago, but figured out a way to keep getting paid for it. According to media reports, while Suchinski handed over his resignation in 2004, police say, he never stopped collecting money for court-ordered debts. Charged With Larceny
NEW BRITAIN -- Bruce Suchinski resigned as a state marshal four years ago but never stopped collecting court-ordered debts on behalf of creditors, according to police.
But Suchinski didn't pay the creditors and, instead, pocketed the money, investigators said Friday.
Suchinski, 57, was charged Friday with second-degree larceny and criminal impersonation, and could face up to more than 10 years in prison if convicted, according to state investigators.
Suchinski stole nearly $6,000 between July of 2004 and September of this year, according to the state criminal justice division. As a marshal, he collected debts through court-ordered wage executions on behalf of creditors, and apparently kept collecting the payments after he resigned, according to investigators.
Suchinski, of 467 Farmington Ave., Bristol, was arraigned Friday at Superior Court in New Britain, and will return on Dec. 6.
The Bristol GOP should call for Suchinski to step asside and they should move to censor Matthews...after all one dum ass moves should be meet with another dum ass move.
How do these people get put on this or any board? Is there no due dilegence?
The guy who got fined the $2500 for being Wards Treasurer got blocked from a feeble attempt to appoint him to the finance board...how do we get stuck with a convicted criminal on this board?
Gamache...dont you get it YET? The guy is a theif and your suck up mind can't get that? We were doing so well without you...go back under your rock Gamache.
Maybe Cockayne and Mills should call fof a vote of No Confidence.
My post was directed at how some posters here choose to voice their opposing views.I believe everyone has the right to voice an opposing view on any given issue.I just don't think it's necessary to use words like "idiot" and "moron."If nothing else, using more constructive language would lend readers to take that opinion more seriously.
Gamache:
It's obvious why you are offended by that type of rhetoric. So I will try and be nicer on your behalf.
Suchinski has a very tainted past as a Marshall and also as McCauley's campaign manager. If someone pulls the records of contributions made to both of McCauley's campaigns, you will find an outrageous amount of money "donated" or "contributed" by Suchinski, even though he was very unemployed at the time and very close to eviction and very very broke.
McCauley was taking cash contributions over the limit from various deep pockets and then reporting the cash contributions under Suchinski's name.
Wonder if you will find the same patter in Matthew's contributon report.
Why didn't Ward's handpicked Corporation Counsel prevent this embarrassment?
Where in the current charter, what section, is the details for the Charter Revision Commission?
Anybody?
Of all the people she could have chosen for this board, why in the world did she choose someone with some much controversy following him????
February 15, 2010 7:49 AM
See reasons cited above.
Also because this Suchinski clown is some kind of political "heavy-hitter" among the Bristol Dumb-o-crat crowd. He's probably just a union lackey. He's definately one of the group of "marshals" who hung out, belly to the bar, at the place formerly known as McComicks, one of which got arrested for drowning cats while he was an animal control officer (nice bunch of guys).
The rest of the council is just as guilty as Matthews. They didn't have to vote him in. They could have opposed his appointment.
How come Arts high paid lawyers let him approve an illegal CRC?
1:08 = how come dr. kevorkian was prosecuted for taking the lives of sick people but you are still alive?
Steve,
Will we ever se a story about the screw up in the nmake up of the Revision Commission?
6:33
Because I had a GOOD lawyer.
9:54 - "good lawyer" protecting you is like michael vicks adopting a dog, bad for everybody.
5:04
At least my lawyer is better than Arts
