Renaissance impressed New Hampshire officials

If you care about the fate of downtown, don't miss reporter Jackie Majerus' story today about the experience in Nashua, N.H. of one of the two competing developers. Click here to read it.
You should also check out her piece previewing tomorrow's Bristol Downtown Development Corp. meeting.
Figuring out what to do with Bristol's former mall property is, obviously, one of the biggest decisions the city is going to make. Learning what the choices are is criticial to picking wisely.

How much is who getting for what lot?

By far the best choice of the two from what has been presented so far.

Hope politics doesn't creep into the decision making proces.
We should put the pressure on Ward and the others to keep out of it.

Ward and the others should be involved. It's their job.

They should pick the local developer, he knows the needs of the town better.

I am sure he is, but his involvement should not be politically motivated.
The state pushed for a BDDC type arrangement, and we should keep away from backdoor secret meetings as took place before and which Ward was part of.

Lets not micro manage.

10:42 - and if they stay out of it, you will be questioning why they aren't in it - idiot.

This process includes the Council AFTER the BDDC does their thing.
That is when the politicians have theri say.

And I hope the public is listened to

Does Mike Nicastro understand that the BDDC is looking at qualifications, not proposals? They tried the RFP route last year and it didn't work.

They should absolutely NOT NOT NOT pick the local developer, he sucks. But he's politically connected so they'll probably pick him anyway.

Anonymous said...

What are Nicastro's credentials for even having an opinion here? He worked for a computer software company before taking over the Chamber. What does he know about economic development?

Local guy is not qulified . The poliyians need a place for the signs thats why this didnt happen yet.maksv

Nicastro thinks he is the mayor: picked that up from Leone.

Remember, Ward and his buddy Rosenthal DID NOT want the BDDC.

Remember, Ward and his family have family ties with D'Amato.

Nicastro is a lawyer: he thinks he knows everything.

Mike is a lawyer AND a Nicastro.

Need I say more???

Rimcowski is out of the picture so I doubt politics will get in the way although ward is not stranger to damato also. i'm not worried about the others when it comes time to vote but let us remember that it is the bddc who decides first and then it goes to the council so people need to show up at council meetings and voice their opinion instead of sitting on their duffs complaining or waiting for things to happen. by the way, 5:15, i'm sure their motivation is if they can put their signs on damato's property ... NOT!

Enough about this crap of give it to the local guy.

Competition is good for the taxpayers!!

Ward and Damato are in bed together and do we need 750 residential units in this town like the other company proposed. One of the Alderman from Nashua said they don't know how this will turn out.He did say that Renaissance are doing what they said but if it doesn't work,we still own the land.

BRISTOL POLITIANS WILL SCREW THIS DEAL UP.

If either of the bidders want to develope the property why dont they buy it first then go through all the other channels to develope the way they wish the city could still block certain things could they not.If D'Amato and Renaissance want the property then let them buy it at least then we would be getting property tax money.

The BDDC IS NOT QULIFIED TO PICK. THIS WILL GO ON FOREVER. THEN IT GOES TO THE COUNCIL AND AGAIN NO QUALIFIED PERSONAL . THIS IS WHY WE HAVE WHAT WE DO.

This property will be vacant for years to come. With FRANK AND JOHN RUNNING THE SHOW ITS DEAD.
